Re: The weather
Our flight from Edinburgh was routed around the storm, adding over 1-1/ 2 hours to our flight time. The connecting flight to Toronto was also delayed and was still at the gate, but boarding closed. Our next connection is supposed to be at10:45pm. This is turning into a long day. We have an hour drive after landing in Toronto.

Re: The weather
In some areas of WNY they got a lot of rain in a short period of time. In my neck if the woods it sprinkled on and off most of the day. Less than .5” of rain which just made it very humid. Harry

Re: The weather
Well here is the local long range weather forecast. I came across a persimmon tree and had a look at the seeds.
I guess we’ll see how accurate they are!
As the wives tail goes if the inside of the seed is a knife the winter will be bitter cold. If it’s a fork it will be mild. A spoon means a lot of snow. Looks like the persimmons are calling for snow I guess we’ll see how accurate they are!

Re: The weather
Well we've had some wild weather down this way. 3 days of rain with 2 of the days being record setting for rainfall. We had over 6 inches here but places south of us had over 12 inches of rain with a couple of tornadoes. Thankfully we only had some washouts in the driveway. Sadly I’m hearing 4 people drowned in the flooding that is still ongoing to our south as a result.

When ever I’m away on vacation and people ask where are you from and I say Buffalo, NY area. They always reply you get so much snow there, I could never live there. I always say at least my house doesn’t blow away from a hurricane or a tornado. I don’t mind shoveling a little snow. Harry

Re: The weather
Right now, we just need some rain. We're like 6 or 7 weeks without a drop, and not much before that for a while. There's a 600 acre fire (Gap Fire) going on my mountian like 10 miles away for the last week. Nothing like you folks out west, or up in Canada see, but eastern folks aren't used to wildfire so much. It's the other side of the Lehigh river water gap from me, so no real danger getting to me, but it's indicative of conditions. They've got it 25% contained currently, and held it at the Appilachian Trail from crossing over the top. Supposed to get some rain Sunday. They're indicating .33". Be nice to have an all day soaker, but we'll take what we can get.
Otherwise we've been on the fall-r-coaster with temps... We were in the 80's yesterday. Sunday we barely escaped the low 40's.

Re: The weather
I guess you do get used to the weather in the area you live in. While it’s possible we could get a wild fire in this area it’s highly unlikely.
I’ve been through many tornados and floods over the years, it doesn’t really bother me especially growing up on a farm in the river bottom. Getting equipment running again that was under 10 feet of water can be done. We live in the hills now so we really don’t see any direct effects of flooding anymore but we have had tornadoes come through now and again. There are some absolutely beautiful places north of us but there is a 0.0% chance I’d move there. Every year that goes by I hate winter a little more! We do go into the negative temps here but its usually not for long and we don’t see near the snow you guys get. A 6” or 8” snow is a big deal here and that only happens maybe once or rarely twice a year.

Re: The weather
Similar dry weather here that toolslinger has. I did my last mowing this afternoon. While the yard is mostly green, parts were extremely dusty like July/August with no rain. Were back to 50's tomorrow. It was mid 70's mid week, same last week.
