New addition to the family

Post by Timj »

Been looking for a second tractor for a while. Knowing I don't have time for a major project, want something to use so I can do some work on the 4118, and :wife: is not going to let there be to many tractors, I've been patiently looking for the right one. My list was a '75-'76 446, hood scoop 448, or a 446/448 black frame.
Today I went and looked at this black frame and it followed me home.

Original owner, bought it new in May 1984. Included all the manuals and paper work. 591 hours. Needs some PTO clutch adjustment, included bag of new parts. Engine sounds good.
I guess we'll find out how good when I can put it to work.

Sharp looking black frame. I've always wanted a black frame also. Looks clean.

Nice looking tractor Tim. I really like the white wheels seat and deck, it accents the orange and black. I can see your on your way to nice collection!

Keep the Peace :cop:

Congrats @Timj ! Very nice tractor and what a shape it is in! :O

Now I know why the black frame 226 I once had came with a white deck! :))

I'm looking forward to see your new tractor at work!

Nice tractor Tim. But if you buy all the same colour tractors, the :wife: won’t know any different. :giggle: :giggle:

Very nice Tim, looks great! I'm sure the owner was happy to see it go to a fellow enthusiast.

Thanks for all the replies, been crazy busy.
@Eugen it was actually your 226 that woke me up to their cool looks.

@Propane57 and @DavidBarkey not much gets past :wife: she runs the tractors and knows what's going on. :violin: once in awhile I can get away with the "oh that's been around for awhile" but not often. :D

@Chad I do think the PO were happy to see it go to someone that cared. Said the only callers were low ballers and mostly from far off. They had bought a new zero turn. There yard wasn't that big for this size of tractor.

I'll get some pics when I get it out in some daylight.

I took it out and cut a little wet grass the other night just to scratch the itch. Started mowing and thought cuts good, then got into some thicker grass and the deck belt started to slip. Tonight I got a few minutes to get the deck off and opened up. :109: this is what I found

Got that straightened out and started making a list and filling my shopping cart with needed parts.
