What are your thoughts on the daylight saving times changes ?
Me personally would love it if it went away . It takes me a bout 5 months to get use to the time change and then I have about a month and they do it again .

I know my birds don't get it and it upset them when I am not out there same time each day regardless of what the clock says or the time of year .

I'm with you Dave. I think that the majority of Ontarians want it (pretty sure provincial government has put forth the motion already) but NY state (maybe PA and a few others too?) need to be on board too for it to happen (from what I've read).
Would be nice though!

I'm not a fan, really messes with my internal clock.

I wish they would move it a half hour and call it good forever.
They always said it was done to help the farmers but they don't care for it, the animals don't use a clock.

I don't think the government could ever get together enough to pass anything like it today.

My brother pointed out that traveling east over a time zone last night would be a double

but traveling west over a time zone would be like

. I am lazy and will stay put.

Can be a PITA remembering what the time is for my folks out in AZ as they don't do the DLST in AZ, as far as I know they never have.

I'm thinking that opinions on the time change may differ by latitude. Here in the Midwest ( Chicago) it would get dark during our longest days in the summer around 8-8:30PM without DST, I sure do like those long summer days. I know from my time spent in upper Minnesota that darkness arrives quite a bit later there. That said, I do wish that (here) they would just bump it ahead and leave it there.
Interesting comment that it was created for the farmers, I never heard that. I remember it being mentioned that it had something to do with the kids and school hours.

Here is a quote from a news articular .
Daylight saving time, or DST, was formally introduced in the U.S. in 1918 during World War I. An idea that originated in the 18th century and was adopted more than a hundred years later in an effort to conserve energy could be on its last legs if the majority of Americans have their way.

My little kids take a few days to calibrate from DST. Fall back means I'm up an hour earlier. Spring forward means I can sleep till 7AM.

Matt I hear ya. Glad it's march break this week so our 3 little ones have some time to adjust (my wife and I are both teachers). The napping schedule is hard enough without DST lol.

The extra hour of daylight this evening was quite nice... Now if only my 3 year old would "Go the F to sleep". That's the title of a book that every parent with young kids should read
My daughter turned 3 ten days ago and has gifted me with ten days of I'm not going to bed in my crib anymore

End rant...
Good luck with the little ones Chad. My girls are 3 years old and 9 months old.

@MattA and
@Chad I'm just reading between the lines of what you guys say, but I think I know how hard it is. Our oldest is about 2 and a half, and our youngest about 1. We bought a perfectly good crib way back, never got any use, ended up selling it. My wife believes in co-sleeping, so they sleep in the same bed with one of us, and got rid of all bed frames so as to have a small distance if they fall off the mattress. I no longer know what it means to not wake up many many times during the night. Sometimes, at around 7AM, but most times earlier, our littlest Matthew wakes up completely refreshed and wants not only to play, but go out of the room and see what his sibling is up to, and of course he wants Mom. The hardest task for me these days is to lure him away from the door and allow my wife and the other toddler get some more minutes of sleep. I'm not complaining at all, hard as it is, they are awesome. There is absolutely no amount of money in the world to pay and get what I get some mornings, when Matthew starts "talking" with his eyes closed next to me. He's only a bit over a year old, so he doesn't say words. But he says a lot of things, and, with his eyes close, he explores my face, pulls on my nose, laughs, pushes his hand down my throat, and such things. I find myself laughing, and he keeps doing his stuff. Fun fun fun! I'm looking forward to one day sleeping through the night.

Lol, my 10 year old daughter thinks she can pull the "well its really 8pm not 9pm. So I should be able to stay up later". Lol my 5 year old boy got lucky with his sleeping habits. Flip a light switch and he's out. Literally. Lil sh!t. Lol wish it was that easy for me. My daughter on the other hand. Wife let her come into our room at night all the time since a baby and made a place on the floor next to her for the longest time. She still manages to sleep on our floor at least 4 times a week. Can't believe she's going on 11 already. Time flies. But as far as DLST goes. I don't care for it one bit.

Thanks @Matt. My girls are 4 and 2.5. My son is 13 months. The napping is tricky, but I know it won't last forever! Will look out for that book!
@Eugen - absolutely know what that's like with early risers and trying to get them up and out before anyone else wakes up. Sadly they are all at the stage now where it's impossible for my wife to sleep - they all want mom, unless I can keep distracting them. My girls share a room, and when the younger wakes up she wants to play and that means waking up her older sister. But she still naps, older doesn't. When I get her up and out I love those little moments one on one with her as she's telling me lots of stories! Despite the challenges right now, I know different ones await in later years and will be longing for the tricky sleeping now!
@Jancoe I am the same as your son. Head hits the pillow and I'm out, but I'm usually wiped by then. One thing that has helped us out with sleeping is using a sleep trainer over the years. Best $ ever spent and if you find sleeping isn't getting any easier I'd highly recommend one. Not sure if they have them for adults dealing with DST however lol.

Hey I just heard on the news that we might be making progress with DST (bill passed by US Senate). Now we just need to convince Quebec! First real progress we've had.
