I sold the 4016PS, which was for everything but mowing grass.

I have a cab. I have a newer, more horse 4020PS. I have gone two winters without a cab. I just could not bring myself to drill up original shiny fenders. Then I realized that I did not need to drill the nice fenders. I have old fenders that are already rusty and have holes drilled in them. I can just swap the fenders.

I live in Saginaw, MI., which is not in the northern snow belt. We get snow, sometimes. The last two years, one year I cleared snow twice, and last year it was three times. So, I did not suffer much without a cab on. Also, my driveway is stone. I like to drive on the snow to create a snow shield for the stone.

Still, for me, the time is split with removing the snow being variable, sometimes. I do more getting ready time than I do removing snow. I have electric seat motors for the rotation and the deflector angle. I have quick connects on them. But I have to mount and dismount the motors every season since I lack enough storage.

Nevermind. I forgot that I attached the splitter valve for the mid-lift to the fender. I also have the under-seat rear PTO and those hardlines attached to the fender.

Maybe some stick onto the cab mounts, some rubber cushiony tape, and at most, one hole in the fender will work.

@ssmewing Steve, I feel your pain when needing to drill holes in fenders.

Me too but my fenders came predrilled. Same person drilled the side of my dash for the cab wiring. Wish they hadn't drilled a good 1/2"+ hole.

@ssmewing I have the same debate every year. Is it worth putting the cab on. The modern CB34 cab takes 2-3hrs to install and I've had several winters where I've spent more time putting the cab on than using the snowblower. Then there are those snow storms where its 20F with a hefty wind. I'm sure glad I have the cab. Its generally not below 20F following a snowstorm. Were only a few miles inland.

I also have the debate about getting a decent walk behind snowblower.

I can understand the pain of re/re the cabs . I saw a lot of those comments when building my first one and decided just to make it a year round cab . The tractors sit out side all summer , so the cabs keep the weather off the seat and dash . I made easy remove doors (old jeep style ) and painted the roof white to reflect the sun . Doors on them make a nice ride in rainy weather , seeing as mine do a lot work around our little farm . Their my work horses . Grass cutting is done buy the old Bolens 944 frame steer (made in Sweden ). One day I would like to make a front deck frame steer like it from my extra Case parts , if I ever live that long to get my other projects finished .

One of these years I'll put some LED flood lights on the cab.

@MattA I can attest to the fact of having LED lights over head shining down is great . Even when the snow is blowing you do not get the same glare back that you do from grill mounted lights . Field of view is so much better .
These are the ones I use on my tractor cabs . Fairly cheap , low draw and yet to have an issue with any of them .

Can usually get a pair for 30 :canada: tax in .

Those lights look like the ones my son uses on his Ford 1210 compact tractor. Great light from them. But not working at the moment. May not be the lights fault. Could be wiring troubles.

I installed a light bar on my 446 snow machine but never use it because I always move snow during the day. ;) :peace: Harry

Unfortunately , or fortunately (I will let you decide ) my :wife: is not retired yet . So when big snow comes :hitsfan: I have to clear at least enough for her to get out to work . That means in the dark . Being in the country , when it is dark it is Dark out . :violin: Or the :hitsfan: :hitsfan: :hitsfan: :hitsfan:

I usually snow blow during the day too.

Cab keeps me good and dry. No need to wear a heavy coat. The cab has decent ventilation holes by the foot boards.

We got about 1/4" of snow... my parents 30 minutes northwest of here got several inches.

The topic of cab ventilation while snowblowing tends to come up once in awhile. This is one side of the CB34 cab's vents. Both sides are the same.

The OEM snowcaster lift arm retaining clips get mangled on my CB34 cabs sort of lift arm guard bracket. The bracket essentially holds the cab fabric away from the lift arm assembly.
Brand new clips get hung up and mangled.

Figured I'd try something else... had this laying around. Probably should have done this years ago...Finally got some time off of work to do these sort of things

My wife just retired December 20/24. So no more going out in the dark and snow storms to get driveway ready so she can get out and back in. :69:

So , I am out blowing snow . We got about 6-8 in. of powder with high winds blowing it about . About half way through the chute started clogging up and it was making a funny noise like the was something wrong with the chain . Did this a few times and then I found out why . The pulley on the jack shaft was a layin on the ground . Because I had rebuilt this thing a couple of years ago and everything got clean and painted there was no "Natures Lok Tight (rust) to keep it together . :violin: :cuss: :headbash: :cuss: The set screws had come loose and it was moving around until off it came, and gone was the wooddrift key and one set screw . :(( Now I do have a nice warm shop to work in , except there is an old duster on the hoist for some more welding and the tractor is to tall with the cab to under it . :headbash: So I had to fix it in the house garage which is non heated , poor lighting ect. :headbash: :cuss: :headbash: :violin: fortunately I do have a stock of set screws and assort keys . I most say the air was Blue in the garage until I got it fixxed . I had to use a ratchet strap to hold the tentioner arm up to put the belt on . Just don't have the hand strength anymore especially in the cold .
The upside is that the new Big steering wheel is working out really well .So much easier to steer and being higher is way better for my back . Any of you guys with back issues got to do this upgrade with a high back skid steer seat like I have . Make all the difference in the world . Got couple more inches last night so , after chores I will be clearing the hardscape and packing the gravel section of the driveway .

I got about 4” of snow last night and this morning it warmed up. Very wet snow which I knew would only pack into the big snow caster and end up just pushing it off the driveway. So I used the 444 with utility blade and pushed it all to the road. All the wet snow piled at the end if the drive was too much for the 444 to move. Tires with chains kept spinning. So park the 444 and bring out the 644 lbh to bucket the wet snow pile on the driveway off the driveway on the lawn. It was terrific seat time playing with the GT’s. Any little boy would be envious. :78:  :peace: Harry
Sorry no pics of the play time. ;)

The worst part was having to work in the cold . A warm shop has got me spoiled . I am glad we are not dealing with that mess again like couple of years ago . That year we were suppose to go to the outlaws , but stayed home and went done a week later .
Between yesterday and last night we got another foot white stuff .
On the weekend they are calling for above freezing and rain . Oh what mess that is going to be .
The residents of the Quack Shack will be in heaven .
