what came with my 446 pointing down

later model (long frame )

stacks , well because

cheap , ineffective replacements

close to what it would have come with

how it did come originally

My grandson likes this type , looks like a machine gun .

What to do , :hm: I can eliminate the cheap ones and long frame won't fit this tractor .

Duals out the back. Hehe.

Noel

Oh ya, put a X or H pipe in the duals to give you the power advantage. Hehe.

@DavidBarkey

I tried and tried to find a replacement type muffler for the twin muffled Case Onan tractor. I never really tried it but thought these may work. They are Walker Sound FX mufflers for A Geo Metro Part number 18192.

https://www.amazon.com/Walker-18192-Sou ... B000C9470I
walker-soundfx-direct-fit-muffler-18192-19825894817951_1200x1200.jpg

I really don't like dealing with the Case tractors with Onans. I try to stay with the older ones that used Kohler engines.

As far as stacks the best looking ones I have ever seen were twin stacked Harley Davidson mufflers. I will try to find a picture of them. A guy from Australia made them.

I had a Case 195 one time that someone had done that to it but only single muffler. Actually worked pretty well. Will see if I can find picture of it when I first found it setting in field. Not a good picture but

@DavidBarkey you've opened up a sore point for all our tractors. If you want something close to OEM there's a guy on FB (Scott Lucy or something like that) that was building mufflers for the Onans. Might be pricey, I don't know.

I had stacks on my 226 and I have to tell you there wasn't much muffling done by those. It sounded like a bigger tractor, deep bass kinda thing. The more I use the tractor though, the more I seem to like less pounding noise in my ears.

BTW, I agree with Jake, the machine gun version looks nice!!!

@Doublet we are birds of a feather, I like the Kohler K321 more than my Onan because my Onan makes me smell like exhaust! :109:

Ceramic coating worked out ok . Have to see what it will look like against the orange when the hood and grill are painted . I think they need to be black with chrome grills on to look right .

Looks good Dave! I thought about the mufflers a little yesterday and think the side is the way to go. Stacks can look cool, but don't think I would like them sticking up in my vision on a work tractor. Up the corner of the cab could work, just wouldn't want it where you could use it as a grab handle. :114: Under the hood is nice, but the room and burning the paint off the older tractors... :112: Going under may have issues with exhaust getting in the cab. :barf:

I kinda like the look of the desert sunset hood. :hm:
:highfive:

It's not is painted yet guys. What do you think Desert Sunset, on hood only/ top of hood and grill only/ hood and grill / or Power Red .
Decals / it is not 16 hp anymore 3.25" bore x 3.00" stroke and 140 psi. I calculate 20+ hp at 3600 rpm governor .

Thoughts

Trying to visualize it with new paint and how it will look with the cab. :fight:
Without a cab, I'm leaning toward just the hood, like the bottom pick above.
I'm a little biased, I really like the look of the desert sunset tractors.
You must make this your own.

Very sloppy way of doing this but you shouldn't expect much from an old man and 3 minutes work. LOL

Taken time to really think about it I believe you could come up with a great looking tractor. If you really don't like it when you are finished wouldn't take much to put it back. If the rear fenders and wheels were color of hood. :hm: :hm: :hm: Or fenders just left alone and wheels done.

I only wished I was smart enough to photo shop that for you.
But I believe it would look great just like you said. Hood, Cab and Wheels (DS) and leave fenders and side panels orange.

I hope some one is able to do it, where we can all see it.

Here is again another crude attempt to do just that. Just don't laugh at it but this is (or was ) an actual picture of your tractor and his cab. Looks like something a kid would do. Not photo shop but paint program.

I think I like the looks of both machine gun and stacks the same, but when you don't have a cab maybe the stacks are better at not blowing exhaust where you can get too much of it down your nostrils. @Timj I don't know if I were really worried about the field of vision, though I get your point. I mean, I don't think Dave will go for stacks as thick as rhinoceros thighs. If he does, he is braver than I ever thought he was! :smash: With the stilettos he got on now he can see Cape Canaveral from his Waverley driveway while blowing snow around the igloo.

@DavidBarkey I have to say that the two-tone example from Terry looks great. It just gives that more classy look than the one colour. But like Tim says, do what your inner picasso tells you!!! :spin:

I will only have a stack on my snow rig to keep the exhaust out of the cab. I had one in the past, but took it off to reduce noise and let me get closer to low objects that the stack would catch on.

OPP's should have said, I had one in the past for summer use. ;)
