Sleeve hitch for a 446 ?

I may start looking for a sleeve hitch for my Case 446. So I’m wondering is there a model number for the right sleeve hitch or does it matter. So will any sleeve hitch off a 444, 446, 448 fit ? My tractor is a 1982. As far as I know. I doubt I’ll find one here in PEI. But I’ll put and ad on somewhere and see what happens. I have 4 or 5 sleeve hitch attachments that I could be using. To do work, not have fun.!

Hope this helps . As far as I know the only difference in the hitch is the length between the 200 and 400 series . I beleave the is a length difference between the long and short frame for the link in the 400 series .
I have seen detailed plans somewhere where you could make your own as I beleave it would be hard to find up here . Thats all I know on the subject.

This is also an option . Not sure what it would cost all in to get to you these days .

Noel, when that cruise ship passes by here I'll throw on a hitch for you, right next to the mower deck!

Thanks Eugen. I think my only luck around here is if someone has a tractor not running, stored some where with a sleeve hitch on it, and wanting to get rid of it.

Given your skills I am very surprised you're not making your own. It would be a lot easier than the loader you build for the MF.

Maysell just pick up the sleeve hitch and deck. If I’m going there. And save you the work of cutting the stuff out.
And I could just give you some money to help pay for you to put in 220 volt.

you probably didn't see the current prices of direct burial 6/3 or 8/3 wire

and i need about 75 feet it's just crazy, I've been delaying this for 2 years and now the prices are double.

I feel like I want to ramble on this but don't want to pollute your sleeve hitch thread

Go ahead and ramble Eugen. Makes no difference, ramble away.
I sure would not know any thing about the cost of that type of hook up.

A k24 is the model you are looking for. A j24 would work but the lift arm would need to be lengthened.
The going rate for used ones from private sellers here seems to be around $200.00US. I don't know what shipping and other charges would tac on from a US dealer for a good used one.
So what would happen if someone from the States would just package something like this up and mail it to someone north of the border?

Thanks for the number Tim. I knew there was a certain number, but I didn’t know when to find it.
I would say it would be expensive to ship some thing like that. I have no idea on the mail route for expense. But I think its the easiest way. Just take longer.

My main question is if they find a way to fleece you on something sent from person to person.
I don't have one to send you, don't mean to get your hopes up. Was just thinking, they come up here fairly often, there is also a few guys around with tons of stuff, plus Bill at Barneveld Implement.

It’s all about the almighty dollar, as my uncle use to say. The one I saw for sale in States somewhere was about $550.00 US. So add exchange, shipping, plus plus, it could be $1200.00 CA. A lot to much for me.

Holy moly, I know that is a new one, but wow.
I was just doing some shipping estimates. From me to PEI 50lbs would be about $200us USPS. To Bangor, Maine it would be $85.
I think I would see if you can turn one up. Other wise I would start finding steel to build one, even if you're lazy (

somehow I don't believe that

) you have all winter to play with it.

Noel, which attachments would you use with that beautiful 446 if you had a sleeve hitch?

One sod plow, tandem disks, cultivator, potatoe hiller, and there maybe one or two more. Nice to wrap a chain around a post or log and use the sleeve hitch to lift it. A little easier to drag that way.

So.... the wheels have been turning a little bit on the subject of these sleeve hitches.

here are a few of my thoughts and observations.
1. There seems to always be someone looking for one. Where there is plenty of tractors there seems to be plenty of used ones. The lift links seem to be a common missing item or are too short.
2. There is a fair amount of traffic on the various groups about building one. The most common complaint for doing this is that there's a fair amount of information missing from the plans to build one.

I think this would be a project for us to improve this plan with the missing measurements and offsets. I think adding it to our plans section would be good for the forum.
@ras101
3. I don't have one and don't know if I really have a need for one, but was thinking about what it would cost to build one. Thought maybe could build some to sell when I was slow in the winter. Did a little material pricing online, don't know if the prices were competitive or not. It didn't take long to get to $200 in steel just for the major components.
My ramble for this morning,
@Propane57 I hope it helps.

Indeed. The 446 I got a while ago came with a sleeve hitch which had the lift link replaced by a rebar. It was well made and it worked perfectly, but yes, no longer in original state. My garden never did notice the difference, but if I were to go to a show maybe I'd make a replacement out of 1/4 steel bar.

I really think I should do that, as I have several sleeve hitches around here, if only I could find the time. I'll try.
3. I don't have one and don't know if I really have a need for one, but was thinking about what it would cost to build one. Thought maybe could build some to sell when I was slow in the winter. I think the most complicated part is the two brackets that bolt onto the frame, but even that is not so bad, really. Not surprising the price would get up there, with the increase in price of steel and everything else.

Thanks Tim. Great ramble. So I was thinking, that’s not good

, one doesn't really have to make one the same as the Case model. Having the three holes is a neat idea to put the attachments on to, but is it really needed. Some of the attachments already have three holes in them for some small adjustments. So a person maybe could make it a little different than the Case model and maybe simpler. This would make it easier and less costly to make, maybe. My metal working tools and skill is limited, so for me a simpler design maybe better, and help with the cost.

just for Ideas , god know I like the build my own designs .
But , I have never heard a negative comment about the Case design . May not be the simplest but seams to have stud the test of time .

At some point Ingersoll beefed up the sleeve hitch to handle the side drive tiller. If someone has one, we should get the dimensions of it.

Thanks Harry , But I did not build this one but have made ones like this . I had to borrow this from the net for show and tell. This design works well on older GTs. with the lower brackets part of the axle like the Ford LTs, Alice Chalmers . Simplicity , Bolens ect.
