We mostly shot at birds, squirrels, cats, lizards. We mostly had terrible aim, I don't think I ever hit anything. Don't know why, but most of us kids were obsessed with hunting type games.

If I remember correctly, I never could hit anything with a sling shot, either. Bought a few when we were on a vacation, now and then, but made a few, also.

Between my 2 brothers and I we were always trying something out that created havoc! We broke a lot of old tools, appliances, and other things. We broke an old Victrola one time when my parents were gone. It had a sliding speed control so you could play a number of records at different speeds.

The fastest speed wasn't fast enough, so we started leaning on the crank handle that wonde the spring. That sped up the turntable some more when we were forcing the handle around. Suddenly, the spring broke, and then we had nothing. Had to fess up to our parents when they got home, because we used that machine quite a bit (it had the thick Edison records yet).

Broke the old hand corn sheller by trying to modify it sometime when dad wasn't around!

My older brother used "bird shot" to kill birds in the barn. My younger brother and I didn't know the difference and used regular 22 ammo and shot holes in the barn roof.

We weren't much better shots with the gun at that point than with the sling shot! That came later with practice in the right places.

My uncle had a salvage yard, so plenty of lugnuts laying around for ammo They sounded cool with kind of a warbling sound in flite, BUT didn't track worth a dam
