Dripless grease. !

I hang my grease gun up and have been for years. And I buy what ever grease where ever I happen to be. Doin that for years. Grease gun drips oilish liquid out of it. Doin that for years. Got fed up with the mess so I put some thing under the grease gun to catch the drips !!!! For years now.
Is there a type of grease that doesn't drip, for years. Hehe.
Any way, sick and tired of the liquid coming out of the grease gun. Is there a better grease or some sort of fix ????? Thanks for any ideas.

If there is, I sure haven't found it...

The drips are the oil coming out of whatever the thickener is. Think of it as the grease going stale since it's loosing part of the lubricant.

On the other hand, until last year, all my grease guns were older than I am. It's entirely possible that when I look at the new, Alemite gun I got last year, that there will be no dripping... I know, I'm probably fooling myself, but I can dream.

I know... There was nothing wrong with the old gun... Unless that bloody dripping was just from being ancient. It's sitting over in the auction pile... Someone always buys the old grease guns... (used to be me)

Only 48 degrees in garage at nite. 70 or so in day time. Hotter in the summer of course.
I’m wondering if a heavy wheel bearing grease would be better.

I have three regular size grease guns. Two pump style and one pneumatic. All three leak oil like you mentioned. I try to keep a small plastic container under them to catch the mess.

Lucas red and tacky grease drips when I use it. Figured it was my cheap harbor freight grease gun.

All general purpose grease will drip a little . What makes it general purpose is it ability to flow at different temp ranges and other conditions . That being said it is made up of different grades of grease . Some will "melt" at room temp. All grease will "melt" at a given temp based on there composition , but that also is what allows them to flow at different temps . If it flows at -40C it will be soup at +40C , and if it is good for over +40C it won't flow at -40C and so on .

Had to return a trailer in Barrie the other day and stopped by Princess Auto for a quick 2 minutes. Can't pass a discount on grease. I usually bought the heavy duty types but whatever. It'll be good for something or other.

I have to say that I like finding the technical literature even for grease.

Sounds like good grease. I’m gunna be out of grease soon so I’ll have to try that. If our Princess auto has it here.
