All tractors were a giggling this morning when I went to take the Case out, for the first work out, they weren't a giggling when I put the Case back in.

I've been running mid or high grade, No Ethenol in all my small engines for the last few years with good success. Seafoam too.Propane57 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 5:25 pm I’d say running rich Dave , because of the black on my nice paint at the exhaust outlet. Hehe. So I need to adjust that. I run 10w-30 in all tractors summer and winter. Just much simpler that way. Some engines use oil under load and some don’t. She had quite a work out today. It has not run like that since I got it and old owners didn’t run it that much either, then it sat for a few years before I got it. I am going to add some transmission fluid to the gas and oil to help with the carbon, if there is any. What do you run for fuel. Regular or high test.

Re: Snow storm pep talk !
We ended up getting 15-18" of powder snow not the usual heavy wet snow (about 15°F while snowing). Down by the road I had 30"+ of snow drifts. On one side of my house, the high winds blew most of the snow away. I could see the lawn and I didn't have to shovel much snow at the top of my driveway. The other end of my house had 3-4' drifts. I took the tractor for a drive around the house to clear the drifts.
So how did the Berco do in the deep powder? Well it kicked ass. Very impressed. Despite only having 16HP, the Berco was very controllable in the deep powder. I could easily control the travel speed and keep the engine RPM's up. As soon as I started blowing, this gray thunderstorm like cloud blocked out the sun... it was airborne fine snow. The only issue I had with the Berco was I clogged the chute 3 times while blowing the drifts around my house. I think this is because I only had the throttle at 1/3 to 1/2 trying to keep the noise down (sleeping baby above where I was working). No clogging issues at WOT in my driveway.
I took a few pictures while I was blowing. Not sure why the bulk attachment shows up in reverse order.

@MattA I hope that when you are my age you will remember these Lily moments. Her concentrations and focus on riding tractor is precious. Those moments go by way to fast.

Re: Snow storm pep talk !
My God-daughter is my Lily, She and her husband bought their first home in a snow belt hours from us. As a house warming present I cleaned up a 9hp BCS tractor with and 18" snowblower and rototiller attachment.

This was a txt video of her blowing their drive for the first time, 2021. I never thought about it until now, the BCS is older than Laura. I bought it at an rental closeout auction over 20 years ago.
Like the video, memories become fuzzy but the relationship with her is anything but.

True, memory gets fuzzy but the bond remains! That's a very thoughtful and helpful house warming present!Spike188 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 11:04 pm My God-daughter is my Lily, She and her husband bought their first home in a snow belt hours from us. Rich=Carbon=pinging.
Almost all the old flat heads called for SAE. 30 summer / 10w30 below freezing .
I run regular with Seafoam 2 ounces per 5 gallon of gas year round . High test is a waist of money unless you a high compression engine , besides almost all high test has Ethanol in anyway . Flat heads are low compression engines which is part of the reason the tend to carbon up / incomplete burn .
Try Seafoam in regular fuel and switch to 10w40 diesel . I think you will be pleasantly surprised . I would do this before making any adjustments unless way off base settings . Tranny fluid in the oil will only thin it out and cause more burn off .

Can't get Ethanol free up here without going to marina or air port and pay stupid $$$Timj wrote: ↑Sun Jan 30, 2022 9:07 pmI've been running mid or high grade, No Ethenol in all my small engines for the last few years with good success. Re: Snow storm pep talk !
I thought that high test fuel didn’t have any ethanol. ? But the price of regular fuel here is $1.49 per litre, and is 87 octane. So I’m guessing the high test would be about $1.58 per litre, and is 91 octane.
