2021 comes to a close.

A friend just ask "Do you have everything complete for the year?" My first thought is projects are perpetual, at times overwhelming, and never finished. After reconsidering that thought and pondering life in 2021, this is my response.

A year, day, or moment is not complete until time is taken to remember and honor our maker, the author of our universe. Only then do I find peace and can answer, "Yes everything is complete."

But last night we gathered as a family to pray for a miracle for my father-in-law. He is 80 years old and was taken to the hospital a week ago with a heart attack. One of his heart arteries was 100% blocked and apparently had been for at least three or four days. The other one was 80% blocked. They did an emergency stent the first night for the fully blocked artery. And a couple days later they stented the other one. But he wasn't able to get on his feet for three or four straight days in the hospital and pneumonia set in. Because of covid he can't have any visitors at all, not even his wife.

On Tuesday they let us know that the scans were showing that what was in his chest is actually pneumonia not just swelling from all the heart procedures.

On Thursday they let us know that his oxygen saturation had dropped dangerously, his kidneys were showing signs of failure, and the pneumonia was spreading instead of clearing up.

Outside of a miracle, with his age and condition and the covid going around and the pneumonia spreading and him not able to get on his feet, this situation cannot have a happy ending. So we prayed for a miracle.

And the news this morning is incredible! He is sitting up. Fully alert and aware. His 02 saturation has come back up. He's using less oxygen than he was. And his kidney labs are nearly normal!

So I'm telling you right now, and nothing's going to change my mind: God answered our prayer. God worked a miracle.

He's not out of the woods yet. And maybe the full story still doesn't get a happy ending. There's no telling. But we asked for a dramatic overnight change for the positive, and that's exactly what God did!

And I'm thankful for it.

After the last 2 years we should all have things to be thankful for! This past July my daughter we had not seen for a year and a half, brought her family to Michigan, from Florida for a month. Just as they were getting ready a year sooner they got locked down with the Covid! We were really glad to see them, and our almost 3 year old grandaughter I hadn't seen in about 1 1/2 years. She didn't even know me! We got along fine and by the time she had been here a week she was following me around the yard anytime I was outside. She even enjoyed my Case and Ingersoll tractors after I asked if she wanted to "drive" one of them! I put her on the one and showed her how to "drive" it. A lot of steering wheel work there! LOL! After she had done that a time or two I sat down on one of the others and after a few minutes I claimed I was tired, leaned back, and draped my legs up over the steering wheel. She thought that was pretty cool and did the same thing.

My son-in-law was in and out of the sandbox a couple times this past year, and he is once again home safely as of a couple of weeks ago! And his wife is expecting their 2nd child in April. If timing is normal he might miss the birth of this one! He got home only 3 days ahead of the last one. We know several who have gone to meet their maker this past year. With some it was Covid, some it was Cancer, others Old age crept up on them and wouldn't be denied any longer. We pray for all of them and hope they were in the right place.

After 72 years, I decided it was time for me to stop kidding myself, and find something else to do besides being a "Crop Consultant". I had been at it since I was 24 years old, and decided I would rather try something else to enjoy in my life. So I plan to do something else with my life (Maybe finish some of my CCI projects).

That's an interesting question and an even more thoughtful answer. I was walking with my wife and little ones yesterday evening. Most streets have no street lights in the little village of Port Mcnicoll, and we are usually the only people taking strolls in the evening. A certain mood in tune with the end of the year seemed to be with us and I and my wife had similar thoughts with you @Spike188 . We are thankful for this moment, not knowing what the next can bring.

@thebuildist Bob, first I want to say that I'd like this forum to be made of quality people like I see you guys are. I happen to share your faith, but some here may not. Let's all get along and be nice, or at least not be nasty. Bob, happy to hear that your prayer has been answered and your father-in-law is better.

For me this year was peaceful almost boring.

BUT this afternoon 2021 ended with a bang, literally. I was in our 2014 Focus driving thru a Cub Foods parking lot slow because of 1/4" of slush. When the nose of a F-150 shot out from behind a parked Suburban, going across the lot and across the lanes. I hit the brakes and he gunned it. I hit him broadside, kind of got lucky, I hit his right rear tire with my license plate. So the Focus will need the whole plastic front bumper wrap but the hood and fenders are untouched and no leaking fluids. Because of the slush and him gunning it, I pushed the back of the 150 about 8 feet off he original track. The cop asked if the airbags deployed, when I said no, he said speed was not an issue then. Now to get ahold of the insurance agent

The only damage the the 150 is a couple scratches on the rim from my license plate mounting bolt. I did recommend that he get that rim checked out to see if it is bent or cracked.

Bob the power of prayer is tremendous. Many times in my life it has helped me cope with the situation. I hope and pray all goes well.
