Pieces of history

Post by Spike188 »

We brought back a few pieces of nostalgia from Oklahoma a few weeks ago.

The sign was painted over 45 years ago and stood for at the entrance to our cotton gin and feed store. The Beam scale was used for weighing cotton bales as they came out of the press. The sign ended up being nailed over a broken window at my parents place. The new owners had resided the building and took the sign down in the last 2 years. They graciously gave me the sign. Yesterday the sign and the scales became wall art in the new shop.

Merri did the sign lettering and I drew and painted the bison. Other than a bit of termite damage in the lower right corner, the sign has weathered well.
