New flat top griddle insert

Post by MattA »

I bought a stainless flat top griddle insert for my weber gas grill. The griddle replaces the grill grates and flavorizer bars. This model is stainless and I believe its 4mm thick. Its got some weight to it. I started seasoning it tonight and hope to use it soon. I also bought some decent tools to cook with. I'll get some pictures another time

I didn't know one has to season stainless steel. Looks good! Enjoy!

Between the crappy weather and long days in the office + the long commute due to the highway bridge failure, I haven't used it that much. I ended up putting the flavorizer bars back in the grill to help spread the heat out even though the flat top manufacturer recommended taking them out. I'm still learning to use it... The smash burgers I made were great

I bought one that sits on top of the grill. I haven't used it all that much, but I did do some blackened salmon on it a couple times, and it was spectacular. I should probably season it. That would help a whole lot with the sticking... I really hadn't considered that with the stainless, but it does make perfect sence.

Is that a drain port for oil in the lower left of the griddle? That seems like it would be a fire issue without the flavorizer bars to shield the direct flame.

Yes that's a drain port. The griddle also came with handles for removal which I didn't install. The handles curve in and would be in the way.
