Gerry some wheel weights would be nice, but your limited on what’s available. Maybe make an adapted to bolt to the wheel with a solid bar in the middle to slide on bar bell weights.RoamingGnome wrote: ↑Sat Jan 17, 2026 11:21 am Rear weight for Maxine...
Trying something different for Maxine (our 222) this year
- (she really needs the extra weight for traction going up the hill to street level)

We don't have a garage or shed here in the city, so the 222 lives outside all year with a cover over it when it's not in use.
I wanted extra weights to be a manageable size so they were easy to move in and out of the basement when not in use.

This fall I made a tray to fit in the 2" receiver hitch. In the spring I'll paint it and make a box to carry garden tools in warm weather.

but for now there is room for seven .30 cal ammo cans filled with misc nuts and washers

- each ammo can weighs about 30 Lbs, so that's a total of about 200 extra pounds.
...it's also convenient storage for all those nuts and washers - hopefully one day I'll even get around to sorting them by size![]()

Re: Adventures with the 222 (aka "Maxine")
Good Suggestions @Harry - I've got a pair of cast iron Bolens Wheel weights already mounted on Maxine (you couldn't see them in the first photos I posted)
I've got pails of RV antifreeze and the fittings for loading tires with fluid and new tires for Maxine (the old ones are badly weather checked and need air added every couple of months) - Unfortunately, winter weather (or at least the cold temps) arrived earlier than I hoped this year
While mounting tires on rims in the BigSky Shop™ when the temp outside is below freezing is not impossible... I just don't pay myself enough for that headache
Definitely have my spring projects starting to line up

Two link chains would help Gerry. Get some chain and make the ones on the tractor two link.

Re: Adventures with the 222 (aka "Maxine")
Springtime in the BigSky shop...
The weather is getting warmer (most days) and every few weeks we even see the sun for an hour or two - decided it was finally time to prep Maxine for springtime yard chores in the city.
Time to remove snow blade, chains and wheel weights
While mucking around with the rear wheels I noticed they were both a lot softer than last fall. Instead of just "pumping them up" - changing "winter" air for "spring/summer" air I decided it was finally time to mount and install the new turf tires sitting in the basement since last spring when Peavey Mart went out of business.
Didn't want to leave her stranded up in the air on axle stands so I swapped back tires for a spare pair of 644 front wheels. That way she was still 'mobile' while I wait for weather to cooperate - (warm enough to spray paint outside) (Yes, it looks dumb - but it works, and the wheels go round and round...)
I ended up having to use her with this dumb tire combo to move the trailer around in the back yard - the yard is anything but flat at the moment - but sometimes it's nice to have mechanical help.
Had a nice day and pulled off the old rubber - one had an inner tube and the other didn't. They both have a lot of cracks / weather checking - definitely time for some new sneakers! After cleaning up the rims I decided to freshen them up with some shiny Tremclad - The Ingersoll rims looked to be a silvery grey colour, but I don't think the shiny Tremclad Silver/Aluminum is a match
But once they get a little dust / mud on them that should tone down the bling a bit

Hit the rims with clear tremclad over the aluminum paint . For some reason it knocks the brightness down .
