curculation issues

Post by DavidBarkey »

Ok guys , what do you know / tried / worked / didn't work ??
You all know from the other thread I am having issues with circulation to hands and feet . Fingers and toes getting so cold they hurt bad . Doctors up here are useless . I have been tested for Rinards and no . I have always had cold hands and feet , but not like this . I have cut out coffee and gone to tea . Don't eat until after I come back in . Take all kinds of supplements that are suppose to help with circulation . Wool socks , toe warmers . Ski pants , snow mobile boots , long underwear , heavy sweater , heavy winter coat , toque , the best subzero gloves I can find . I have tried mitts but keep having to take them off to work things .
I am open to try anything at this point.

Dave, I sympathize with your struggles. A month before Covid was a thing, I was working blocks away from Toronto; Pearson terminal, and eating at a donut shop within site of the terminal. My hours were long with a goal of taking the month April down south. I was hit with pneumonia like symptoms that laid me out. When my father passed the end of April, flying to his funeral was out of the question. After many visits to medical specialists, my smart ass family Dr didn’t ask, but said “Did you ever think that you might be getting old.” Looka at it this way, our USA friends are stuck with their English system of measurement, but here in Canada we have options. I will turn 20.4c in February, so age isn’t the issue. Go figure. :35:

David have you ever been to a cardiologist to check for heart/circulation issues? After my dad has his stroke in Sept 24, the doctors discovered he had some major artery blockages which eventually required a quadruple bypass in spring 25. My mothers heart valve issue got so bad that she finally had it fixed before Christmas 25. The neat thing is the doctors did the valve through her arteries instead of cutting her open. Recovery was 24hrs in the hospital and relax for 5 days at home compared to months of recovery when being cut open. I think the replacement valve installs over the old one.

I have had stress tests and full torso MRI over the last decade that came back negative for that type of thing . Issues turn out to be something else . I have been check for Rinards as well. That all being said it has got a lot worse this year so I think checkup with the doctors again might be in order . In the meen time I will keep looking for releaf .

I had an echocardiogram and MRI done this past fall. Didn't find anything wrong with my heart. I've had issues with my hands getting numb this winter while snowblowing. The numbness goes away when I get off the tractor and do some walking or shoveling. Wife got me a pair of carhartt winter gloves to try out. I regret not putting my cab on this year. It's been extra cold for a few weeks now. Looking forward to 10F warmer temps next week.

I think that remedy would give me circulation only in an area that doesn’t get cold, but sounds like great fun. My cab is small so only one place for another person would be on my lap.

I got a set of battery powered heated gloves . They do work . Not as well as I was hoping for . The back of the hand gets the warmest and then back of the fingers . The first time they did not make much heat , second and third time each got a little better . I do not remember the tech. term for it , but heating elements will take a few cycles to get up to max thermal output .
