@Eugen That thing is beautiful . It warms me up just looking at it . I would love to have wood burner like that here , but the insurance cost is stupid . So all wood burning is done outside when the weather is warmer and we don't need it .

Great pictures Eugen. I’m curious about the wood burning stove. Is it a free standing unit of insert in to wall.
Looks like it was made to burn coal. But they will burn wood fine too.

Noel, here's the thing. This is the most common type around here. One gets a master stove maker to come and build it in place. Masonry: fire brick on the inside and various types of ceramic and brick on the outside. There are several channels going from the bottom to the top such that the hot smoke travels along the channels and the masonry absorbs the heat. Once hot, the masonry is like a battery, gives many hours of heat. Same with the walls of the building, once they warm up they tend to stay warm for a while, most old houses made of solid brick.

This one's about 3.5 feet wide, 2.5 feet deep, and 7 feet tall.

I’ve seen pictures of stoves that were made of the same material but were square 4’H X 4’W x 3’D about, they burned propane I think. Been a while since I seen these pictures so I could be off a bit. They were from Europe, I believe.

How does one ever clean out the inside of a stove/flue like that? Obviously they work. Burn the right wood and they're probably fine I guess.

The chimney in my house was built, used a lot over 30+ years, and then after I inherited, and had to replace the stove, finally got cleaned. Only a few gallons of flakes after all that time when I shoveled out the cleanout after brushing. We were always pretty careful about our wood selection and seasoning though...

Ayr went from almost snow and ice free to 4" inches of snow overnight.

Good question. I had the one in the other room cleaned, and that's the only reason for which I know. The guy showed up and proceeded to break the top which kinda scared me. He cleaned up all the inner channels with a steel brush ball on a steel wire. Then he stuck the top back on with clay that he brought himself. I asked him where he gets the clay from, and he said he knows places out in the woods. This happened about 8 months ago, and it's fine, no smoke leaks.

Weather warning here with 10” to 20” of snow with up to 50 mph wind. Sounds like a few Christmas Eve’s ago when the 446 died in the middle of cleaning out the driveway. I hope they are wrong.
