rear discharge deck options

Post by DavidBarkey »

Here is the bottom side of a factory rear discharge deck . I have a few old shells that are side discharge . Looking at this I am pondering taking one and letting the left side blade still side discharge out of the rear of the opening , but have the right and centre to discharge out the back. Thought is to sped more evenly the clippings over the cut area . Thoughts ??

Adding a side discharge port for one blade might reduce air flow to the back discharge chute. When the flow pattern is divided it might cause both both chutes to have a shorter discharge throw.

Progress has been made by trying the unknown.

If I was doing that, looking at the deck in the picture, I would have centre throwing out the back, left out the left and the right one out the right. That would spread the grass around. Just a thought. :106:

Try looking on the Stens and Oregon websites for high lift or mulching blades which could fit your Case deck. People were also putting Meg-Mo blades on Case decks a while back. I think these ran about $300.

Also make sure your engine RPM is 3600. You can also change the pulley size on the deck.
