old carburettor rebuild

Post by DavidBarkey »

Ever have it when a cleaning and a new kit just doesn't fix it ? Well sometimes it is because the shafts are worn and or when the new gaskets wont seal because the 2 surfaces aren't flat anymore . So what to do? A lot of the time it is buy a new carb because you can not sand both sides flat like you would a head . A few hours later and a new jig for the lathe and all better now .

Nice work, that looks like a Briggs 2 piece carb?

I never thought of doing that, but it makes sense, thanks for the suggestion.

Yes it is a briggs 2 piece carb . And it did solve the air leak at the idle circuit through the gasket . I fixed 2 that way now .

Common problem with those 2 piece flo-jet carburetors. Your solution is by far the best fix, much superior to hit and miss with a flat file, lol.
