Re: The weather
14 hours , no power . The little 5500 watt genny is getting a work out . Ran it for 7 hours only used about 2 gallons of gas when I gave it a break and topped off . The new carb made all the difference in the world on fuel usage . I am glad I filled my fuel cans before this . One of the only gas stations around with power (deisel genny ) has been line up out to the road all day . The short drive to check to see if I could fill my one empty can I saw 4 high tension lines down (10,000 volt trunks) down . The ice does more damage than a blizard .

Re: The weather
That’s a fact. As much as I’ve grown to dislike snow I’ll take a truckload of over an ice storm.DavidBarkey wrote: ↑Sun Mar 30, 2025 5:05 pm The short drive to check to see if I could fill my one empty can I saw 4 high tension lines down (10,000 volt trunks) down . We had a bad one here in the early 2000’s. I ran my generator for a week before power was restored. At least the silver lining is you were prepared. I’m sure there’s people around you that are sitting in a cold dark house right now.

blew it all on fancy all electric kitchen and bath renos instead of a power less NG insert for the fire place and a generator that he wanted . We are rural but have the main NG pipe line for the neighbouring towns go through our front yards . One of the reasons we bought here .Dave

Re: The weather
They said we were going to get that storm here in WNY, but I’m glad tge weather guessers were wrong. I hope everything is better today David. Ice storms are horrible when the power lines drop. Good luck in the clean up.

Re: The weather
Seems like you need a campfire percalator...
Have yet to use mine over a campfire, but it works just fine over a grill, or gas stovetop when the power goes down. I like tea, but I am not giving up my coffee for something minor like a power appocalypse.
