K 45 rear discharge deck

Post by Harry »

Does any of the members use a K 45 rear discharge deck? I have an old left discharge deck and thinking of changing it to a rear discharge. I checked the manual but no view of the underside to see the baffle configuration. :peace: Harry

We sold a few of them, mainly to cemetery maintenance departments. They worked well for that purpose as you could trim with both sides and not throw wet clippings on the headstones. They were introduced to use in conjunction with the tow behind lawn sweepers so that clippings could be collected in one operation. Without picking up the clippings, most were not satisfied with the cut as the clippings were windrowed as intended rather than scattered like a side discharge deck. Didn't matter in the cemetery as you weren't looking across a large expanse of lawn where you would notice.

With that said, the results were with the 44" rear discharge deck as the factory designed it. Wheel Horse years ago sold lots of rear discharge decks that had the whole back open and the resulting cut was quite good, but was not approved by the safety gods in later years.
