This year winter seems to suck more. :106: You guys to the Northeast have sure got your share of snow. Until this last week we have had bare ground since Christmas. But lots of cold, frost level is 4-5 feet, lots of frozen septics and water lines. This winter sucks :124:

That is one thing with all this snow is very little frost in the ground here . Even when it get stupid cold out the birds runs are just below zero due to the snow pack .

We are getting a break from the severe weather for a few days . The closed roads are open again . Truck is back on the road . Still need a bumper assembly ,but things are patched up enough to get by for now until can find more parts .

You all want visitors . The only thing green here is the roof of my house , but at least that not covered in snow anymore . We have be fortunate to been having a steady consistent melt , but not too fast so far .

Visitors are welcome, just make sure the snow and cold stays up there! :D I’m sure we still have some chilly days ahead but I think snow is pretty much off the table at this point.

I agree with Spike a slow and steady melt. Sunday rain coming in maybe wash some of the salt off the roads. I still see a lot of huge piles of black snow piled up in parking lots. Some so high they could have a car in there. :43: :giggle: :peace: Harry

We still have just under 2 foot in the back . But I can now see over the what was 8' snow bank and I am 5' to the eyeballs . We have had below freezing temps over night that has kept the rate of melt in check for now .

:wife: and I wandered up to the 'Roost yesterday for a crazy "daytrip"

Day trips are a minimum 10 hours of round trip driving - pack the truck the night before, up at 4:30am, on the road by 5am (to avoid morning rush hour across the top of Toronto) And arrive at the 'Roost about 5hrs later (it's a drive of 450 km/280 miles NE from home base in Southern Ontario)

Here in "warm" S. Ontario all of our snow has melted, and we are back to messy pre-spring conditions of soggy, muddy, brown grass... but up north - our property got 3-4 feet of snow and a lot of it was still on the ground (still nowhere near the crazy snowfall @DavidBarkey got... :O )

We went Tuesday to stash more household stuff in the shipping containers located near the highway - and there was still about 2' of dense wet snow around the containers (neighbour Glen had plowed and shovelled space in front for us). When we looked inside the 'garage container' (full of summer tires, Suzuki and Case tractor parts) we discovered a dent in the roof was now leaking :cuss: - I shovelled the snow off and vowed to return soon with a proper 'fix' before spring rains make a real mess inside

- forecast Friday was for sun and warm temps and we decided to go and try to and patch the hole - we also came prepared to have some fun and do a bit of exploring after the 'work' was finished...

Strap on the snowshoes! It was crazy walking on 2' of snow, but the temperature was 17°C (62°F)

I hiked up to the back of the property to check on conditions on top of the hill where we plan on building...

Yes... there was a lot of snow still up there - :109: - But good news - everything seems ok...

Travel trailer and sheds didn't collapse under the weight of the snow,

and Grandpa (Case 195) and the Red 644 loader are starting to appear from under their snow drifts...

Looking at BluZuki gives an idea of how much snow there must have been - He's sitting on 32" tires... :109:
...Can't wait for the snow to melt so I can go back up and start working on this years projects...

Gerry , you still have a ton of snow up there . Glad no roof collapses up there . You will be swatting bugs soon enough . Hope to have a set of screen doors to put on the tractor this spring .
