Snow is deeper than walk behind’s mouth.

Clearing path to BBQ’s so I could cook some wienies for family day. Hard to get BBQ up to temp when ambient is -10 degrees Celsius.

Last Wednesday I shovelled the 6" of snow we got two days before out of the courtyard and pushed in the "hard-down" 446 - before covering it up...

Today after finishing another snow pushing adventure with the 222 I stopped to take a photo to show how much had accumulated in the last 5 days...

I was reading today that my part of Southern Ontario has received more snow in the last 7 days than it did in all of last winter (2023/2024)

I noticed this morning something like a cat or fox cut through the birds compound by stepping over a 48" tall fence . The electric fence wire was under snow in a few places shorting it to ground . I had to walk the parimetor on snow shoes with a shovel to clear the hot wire . The coverall was about to collapse . We had to get the snow off and prop up the roof . It will need to be replaced in the spring due to structual damage . Snow banks so high could not see past and when Jake inched out to see past a car hit our front end of the truck . The $$$ cost of this winter is adding up quickly . Roofs are colspsing on structures and homes . Not good . The personal toll on most in these parts

We picked up 2-3" of heavy wet snow Saturday night into early Sunday morning before it switched over to rain. I cleared the driveway out before the heavy thunderstorm like rain came. About 2" of rain fell over several hours. The rain cleared out and were back to winter temps with 50-60mph wind gusts. Would be nice if we could get a decent snow storm followed by some decent weather so that I could take the kids out to play in the snow.

The snow finally stopped yesterday, so the 446 had quite the workout. I tried to move the piles of hard packed snow back further. I would hit the pile and the GT would stop. Then I would lift the caster up then the GT would move into the pile throwing the hard chunks over the pile. Even though the temps were single digit, I wasn’t cold sitting inside the cab. My neighbor across the street was using his walk behind to clean up his little driveway and he looked like he was bundled up like an eskimo. I’m out there playing moving snow around and most people are freezing their behinds trying to get done and get back inside. I can remember those days using a walk behind, but I always had a canopy on it to keep the wind and snow off me. By the time I finished I blew the snow off the caster and backed it into my shop. Then changed the oil on the Onan which it needed. Preventative maintenance is always a good idea guys. That’s my ramble for today while I drink my Harry

I was saying to if we hadn't taken down our tent garage and replaced it with the wooden pergola in the courtyard it surely would have collapsed with all the snow we got this past week.

Yikes you guys up north have really been hammered with snow. @DavidBarkey i hope the damages don’t turn out to be too bad. I know it’s mighty aggravating.

I don’t know what to say about moving 7+ foot tall snow banks. A bigger piece of equipment isn’t necessarily the answer either. The bigger it is the harder it is to get it unstuck! I’ve had my 830 hung up a couple of times and it’s a bear to get it moving again.

Around here we picked up another 2 or 3 inches over night with another 2 or 3 tonight. I don’t think we have had a winter with this many snow events in quite a few years.

You’re having a hard go of it Dave. Hopefully things will better very soon.
Two snow events here since Sunday nite. One of them was like what Harry got. Freezing rain and wet snow under it that froze. John Deere was throwing out ice cubes up to as big as golf balls. Holy cats it was nasty stuff. Thrower would not even go down into it at times. Just glide over it. Today’s mess was more snow than they said and high west winds. It’s slowed down a bit now. Used the ford with cab today.

Last couple of days the high winds along with more snow . White outs every where so bad almost all the roads running east west are closed down . Some of the north , south roads closed to . Parts are on order for truck , but shipments are not getting through . Hopefully tomorrow .
