I may or may not have time to help. At least good record keeping in June of 2017 indicated the sizing on a replacement pump installed allows for picking up the Lovejoy replacement before teardown. It can be a Saturday job that way.
Oh now, you're reminding me of all the good times I used to have wrenching in freezing weather! :D

@Spike188 , get a new spider too, while you're at it. :wave2:

Without hydraulics loading on trailer was going to be an issue.
20241207_103420.jpg
The lift cylinder pins were removed.
20241207_103417.jpg
Then bucket cylinder hoses disconnect and loader arm rod removed.
20241207_104244.jpg
once loader was disconnected it was flipped out of the way.
20241207_105435.jpg
and tractor was wenched onto trailer.
20241207_120112.jpg
After a short ride it was unloaded into a freinds shop with it's rear wheels an a lift table.
20241207_120126.jpg
We decided to pull the pump for access to the coupler.
20241207_122220.jpg
It was tight but the pump was accessible.
20241207_124059.jpg
By removing the deck lift linkage the pump and bracket fell
out.
20241207_123234.jpg
The were no hangups taking the coupling off of the pump.
40 minutes to remove loader and about the same amount of time to remove the pump. WIll order a new coupling from local supplier on Monday.

Well... between the sheared key and shattered coupler I think you found the weakest links in that connection... :smash:

Thanks for the photos, It's interesting to :letmesee: the difference in getting access to the pump in a 6XX series vs trying to get to the pump in my 446.

Better to have a broken coupler than a pump with an inspection hole in the side!

Now that's interesting, and you have confirmation that the pump and engine are very strong, if the couple actually broke; unless it had a crack from years of use. I moved the engine forward to get the pump off on my various Case tractors.

A local supplier had a stock L110 with ax 5/8 keyed bore that fit a retro pump shaft in the 646.

The coupling need a lot of machining to fit in the confined area of the pump mounting bracket.
20241226_142526.jpg
The coupling was sent out for machining but was returned untouched because of a long holiday. By customizing a center tie down bolt to a rotary table and 3 bolts in the table ways as stops the coupling was secure.
20241226_142642.jpg
Milling was a bit of an issue because the coupling could only be milled from one side and rotation direction without it dislodging.

It turned out great given the limitations of the tools used.

Almost completed reinstalling the pump this afternoon.
But I had to bring the coupling home and take a bit off of the first step.

this is a better photo of the clamp and stop system used to hold the coupling centered on the rotary table.

It is home. If doing a Lovejoy coupling again, pulling the motor out gain acsess would be my preference. Having a 1-1/2" socket and a complete arsenal of tools, made dropping the pump out the bottom of the tractor possible. Getting it back in place was a different story. At least a buddy was lending his hand.

Well now that your done playing around with that coupler its time to get the tractor off the trailer and get some work done! :giggle: :giggle: Just kidding!
Seriously though you did a great job getting it fixed. I’m very envious of your tools and ability! :worship: That should last for a long time!
