The blower had been stored outdoors so there was a sense of urgency to see and hear it run. Shifting the pto from neutral to forward and reverse should have made the auger turn. Nothing happened, not even a groan. Next the loader raise was tried and it was very very sluggish then stopped moving. The tractor wouldn't move either. A sense of dred and fear began to creep and settle in. I knew better than turning on the pto without a loop or piece of equipment attached. Not only did it shear the key, but the deadheading pressure split the Lovejoy coupling on the pump shaft.
Tomorrow snowing, wind, and another below freezing day. 26f/-5c. Every indoor workspace is packed full with the new accessory building taking priority. If Eugen can rebuild an in a tent, then I can do this. The motor will be moved forward and the coupling will be changed out.
