@Eugen you should be in the air by now. Timothy and Mathew should retain some great memories of their early life in Port McNicoll. Wishing all of you the best as you begin to settle in.

Missing you already.

Thank you all guys!

I'll tell you the last week story another time. Suffice to say now it was a race against time. Two buddies and neighbours have helped lots with clearing the property. We're now waiting for the second leg of our trip, in Munich airport. :wave3:

Hello dear friends!
I have been kinda quiet since we crossed the big pond, sorry about that. There are reasons for sure. We arrived well but of course tired; traveling with small kids can be "complicated." The plan was to live with my in laws until we find something to rent near the property we got, so I could start renovations. But then ran into some complications. So I've visited here before, and always drove around with my Canadian drivers license. Turns out that my license was not an International driving permit and therefore invalid here. The good news is that the police did not stop me and therefore I didn't get criminal charges. The law here allows for replacing the Canadian drivers license with a local one, however, a document from the Ministry of Transportation of Ontario is needed, and that I haven't got. So I'm not able to drive at all, which makes things either close to impossible, or very complicated. I'm looking at another month or maybe even two before I can drive. There are all kinds of other little snags we hit, so is life. The container is supposed to arrive at the end of December, when most offices are either officially closed or unofficially practically not working, so getting the customs done is going to be an adventure as well.

Otherwise, I'm living vicariously through your posts here which I'm enjoying a lot. Sitting on the bench isn't a very good fit for me, but I'm doing the best of this time spending much more time with the kids which is the silver lining behind the current clouds. Keep up the good work guys :creeper: :j :446cart: :-- Hopefully I'll be able to join in soon! :wave3:

@Eugen The stress of things not going to plan and being stranded and relying on other for transportation is not any fun at all. But on the bright side , you old property has about 18" of snow and north of there there is 4 feet of snow !! and all the roads from Washago to Bracebridge have been closed since Saturday . A move like this will come with challenges that will test your resolve , but you will tackle them one at a time and be fine .
 :coffee: bud

Great to hear from you! Sorry to hear your having a couple of paperwork setbacks, but time with the kids is probably a very good thing after a big move like this. So like you say it’s the silver lining. Hopefully you’ll be all set by the 1st of the year!

I’m looking forward to hearing about your new adventures!

Thanks guys!

Here's something interesting, to me at least. Before I loaded things in the container I bought some airtags, which are tracking little devices from Apple. And I put one in the tractor, mostly for fun.

Without the Apple tracking device I am able to track the container ship, named Zim Asia,

on a public tracking website, it shows like this.

But, if someone with an iPhone happens to be near my tracking device, it shows it on my phone tracking app like this.

Hopefully it doesn't get stolen. :109:
