So not much going on with the loader lately, but my son is getting a Farmall A or Cub to work on and the Case 446 and loader were sorta in the way. Loader not on the tractor, so hard to move around. So we figured we would put the loader on the tractor and jerry rig it so the loader was up of the ground so we could move it around as a unit. Will be a few more weeks before we get back to it.
Today was snow tire day too. Got a couple done.

Noel.

Noel, sounds like the seasonal shuffle. I’ve got to do that yet and I’m hoping the snow doesn’t start before I complete the task. David, I have tri-ribs on the front of the 646. I noticed easier steering but I can honestly say I haven’t had a real heavy load on the bucket. I seem to go to the 644 lbh when I need a loader. :peace: Harry

I will Dave. But I can say, most of my tractors have those tires on the front. Steering traction in the snow. The LGT 165 Ford I have had turf tires on the front. In the snow if you were stuck and you had the tires turned right or left, and were trying to turn the tractor out of the stuck position in the bank, and the tractor would move forward and backwards a few feet, you could not steer out of the bank with the turf tires. They would just slide straight. The three rib tires changed all that. No more sliding straight, you could drive out the stuck location into the clearing you made on the last pass. Steering tractor is just as important as rear driving traction.

And you had mentioned 4 ply front tires, and that’s what these are.

Yes Harry. Easier steering is one thing, less width means less resistance to push though stuff too. All thou, I don’t know what size your tire are. The ones I use are much less width than the standard turf tire.

Sooooo, we got a little more done to the Case 446 and loader install. Put in a couple of uprights on the loader frame to take the movement out when lifting the loader and the tipping out of the frame when push down on one side of the bucket and lift on the other side. Nice a solid now.
And we got the pump in the frame work, just setting there. Had to take some of the loader frame down so we could get the pump in there. :40: never thought about that when making frame. Could have cut the loader frame and got pump in, but didn’t want to weaken frame. Hoping to mount pump to tractor, so in case the loader frame has to come off, the pump just stays on the tractor.
So it’s a start at it again. Will be a long process yet. As there is to many things to do, and spring is quickly coming.
