Where did the shape of the hood come from
It looks to me that the shape of the hood on the 195 is that of 1960' 830 ect.
The 200 and 400 series look to me like the 70 series like the 870 ect.
Any of you guys who been around the old full size Case tractors have a better idea .
I want to change the hood on Frankie this winter when I rework the hydraulics and would like to put on something that looks more Case . A 400 series hood is too short and narrow for Frankie . Thats why there is an old Bolens hood on him .

Re: Where did the shape of the hood come from
I think you are correct. I’m certainly no expert in tractor design from the 60s through the 80s but you can look at examples from Oliver, A/C, Massey, JD, Case, IH, Ford and I’m sure others that shows they carried their styling cues through the the whole line up in that era. I would think it was for brand recognition / loyalty. I think it’s really neat to see that type of similarity in look from a garden tractor all the way up to the largest models made.

Re: Where did the shape of the hood come from
Are you thinking of making something that looks Case "Inspired" or modifying an old full size hood to make it a true one off?

Any of you guys that play with photo shop and are bored . Can you take the hood from pic. 3 and put it on Frankie pic 2 . That is what I am thinking . I know the 70 series hood will need some cutting down , But I need to cover a space that is 11 longer and about 4" wider than stock , pic 5
Ps ignor the date code in pic 4 . I forgot at the tie to reset the date on the camera after changing batteries .

When the time comes to gather your hood parts this place on FB marketplace could be an option... No idea what their pricing is like, but they seem to have a good collection
