Cottonwood is flying

Post by Harry »

Yesterday it was like a blizzard of cottonwood seeds flying in the air. I took a few pics but they were hard to see. I took a few this morning of them on the grass. :peace: Harry

It’s a PITA. I pounded a few copper nails in the Popular trees late last fall to kill the trees but that make take awhile. :peace: Harry

Why don't you just cut them down?

David, they are located right on the property line. Neighbors house is very close to trees so a tree service would have to come in with a bucket truck to piece meal them down. There is a ditch between the properties and the trees are volunteers. There are quite a few so big bucks to have a tree service come in to do it. :pullhair: :peace: Harry

We had a lot of cottonwood trees along the levee and the river banks at the home place. It really does look like it’s snowing when all the seeds are floating around!

We always have the "snow" in the spring also. This year doesn't seem to be as bad as we normally get. The only reason I can think of for that is the two late killing frosts we had this year.

Mendonsy, I was thinking at my house it was heavy cotton because I put copper nails in them to kill them. It was a response to that and they were spreading more seeds to start new trees. I guess you could say I’m in high cotton, if you ever heard that expression before. LOL. :peace: Harry
