Robber edge for snow blades
I seen this posted on the Buffalo, NY CL. I looks like it would be a good idea. Harry

The rubber edges have become quite popular even on larger plows, it's surprising how well they hold up. And no gouged and scratched up concrete or blacktop.

30 or so years ago when I sold a tractor/cab/blade combination to a company that had the snow removal contract for the Federal Building in Chicago, that was one of the requirements as the entire plaza at that address is marble. At the time poly or rubber edges were not that common, I ended up sourcing one from John Deere as they had a 54" blade as well.

Has anyone tried them on snow casters ? Anyone use them on gravel ? I wounder if they would "dig in less ?

Most of the rubber ones are thicker, with how the cutting edge is mounted on the caster, I think it might be hard to get it to not push snow ahead of the caster. A piece of thin high tech plastic may be a better choice, or even just on the shoes.

My father ran UHMW blocks for skids on the JD140 to avoid scratching his then new pavers. Took the chains off too, but that's another issue...
The blocks did ok, but over time they ground down far more quickly than the steel feet would. I went back to the steel as soon as I could. I could see using it across the whole bottom as the scraper and holding up quite a while as the load is far more distributed. The load on just the feet was really too much. The JD scrapper is probably 5/8" tall (kinda a channel with 45 deg sides) so there's enough room under there for something kinda thick. I haven't flipped a Case caster over to look at our scraper bar setup...
