We used to have a WW2 mine sweeper docked on the St. Louis riverfront. The USS Inaugural. I went through it a couple of times as a kid. I remember there were 2 guns on the back deck that had manual traverse and elevation. You could sit at each gun and crank the handles to move them around. Unfortunately during the great flood of 93 she broke her moorings, floated downriver and sank. A rather sad ending for sure.
The USS Massachusetts has AA guns just like you describe. I spent plenty of time running them as a kid. I looked up the USS Inaugural... I didn't get to why it sank but it was exposed during the 2021 drought and cut up for scrap metal 🙁

Went for a drive to get a fuel tank for my 222 yesterday...

and all this followed me home, hopefully some good salvage parts for future projects - front axle w/spindles, rear axle w/motor and control valve....

Unfortunately when all the covers were off the fuel tank was toast :headbash:

Has anyone found a good plastic substitute? I was looking on Amazon but generic riding mower tanks all seem a lot smaller...

The 3000, 3100, 4000, 4100 and 4200 series tractors should all have plastic tanks. I'm not sure when Case/Ingersoll switched to plastic tanks.

Had a rare breakdown while mowing this morning. My mowing deck height adjustment rod bracket came off causing my deck to drop all the way down and the belt to come off. The nut was on the deck. Quick fix and back to mowing in a few minutes. I'll probably replace the serrated flange nut that came off. I've got a bag full...

They did and the parents did too. 🙂 it's half hour away and not too crowed. I'm not much for staying in the sun all day but can't complain about the whole affair. Weather was great, the water pleasant, we had ice cream and burgers on the beach (in that order). :D

Went to a car show today. Over 500 cars in attendance. The pics show two Austins one blue and white and the other white. Beautiful cars. I like the stock old cars vs the hot rods and rat rods. :peace: Harry

It's been a rocky kinda weekend... The 646 has been earning it's keep. These rocks have been peeking out of the ground, and messing with mowers as long as I remember. Never looks like much, but I know better than to even get a shovel... There were 4 more Friday, but no photos...
