Historical Construction Equipment Association (Canada)

Post by RoamingGnome »

If you are interested in seeing some old construction equipment in action in Ontario Canada - a good place to visit this weekend would be - the HCEA Canada event "Wheels and Tracks in Motion - 2023" https://hceacanada.org/facility/ It's happening at the Simcoe County Museum 1151 Highway 26, Minesing, Ontario Just outside of Barrie Ontario.

We've been to a few of these and it's like watching kids in a big, life size sandbox. The sights and sounds are incredible

Some photos I took there 10 years ago...

Thanks for the pictures Gerry! We have a couple of tractor/old threshers shows fairly close to us but nothing that I know of with heavy equipment. Looks like a great show

Thanks for posting Gerry. I can see where the term "steam roller" came from.

Gerry, to bad that the Barrie meet is today. It is just too short of a notice for pulling off a drive and ogle today. The wedsite https://hceacanada.org shows the Georgain Bay Steam Show 4583 15 Line, Cookstown, Ontario, Canada, on August 4. @FUTZ aka Ian was promoting at GT display at it last year.

@Spike188 - it's not very clear on the website but it's a two day event, on tomorrow as well... they also have a fall event called "Last Blast" - usually in October sometime - I'll post again if I remember :)

The Georgian Bay Steam Show is a great event, along with the Milton Steam Era on the Labour Day Weekend...
We had the most awesome steamed corn on the cob at the Georgian Bay show once... miniature steam engine piping steam into a small trailer full of corn. When it was done they dumped the contents on a tarp on the ground and the crowd rushed in to grab a steaming hot corn cob, shuck it and dunk it into a jar of hot water with a slab of butter floating on top. Best way to get that "all over" buttery coating.

:wife: still talks about it whenever corn on the cob is mentioned :giggle:

She also wondered how long it would be before I wanted to display "Grampa Case" (my 195) at a vintage tractor show / fall fair :))

That sounds delicious!

We might try the construction show later this fall, if not definitely next year.

Looking forward to this show on Canada Day weekend:

I plan on showing a tractor or two and the vintage chainsaws here one day.
