Honda HR173 push mower, bent crank.

Post by propane1 »

So this mower has a slightly bent crank. Sister in laws mower. She hit something while mowing and the bolt that holds the blade on broke and off came the blade. Any one ever make a crank straightener. ?
Or any ideas how a back yarder fix it type like me could straighten the crank. :42:

Noel the Honda looks a lot like the one I traded for the 226 project tractor. My Honda ran great but the transmission for the self propel started slipping. :peace: Harry

Thats a cast iron crank . Odds are that it is the blade adapter that is bent . Even if the crank did bend , odds are it would break trying to straighten it . Have you had a indicator on the shaft with the adapter off?

There is a company that makes a crank straightener, frankly I would never use one. The cast crank is likely fractured internally and will only be made worse if bent back the other way. A blade exiting the mower deck is not a pretty thing.

Thanks Bob. I never thought about it being cast crank.
