Case addiction

Post by Harry »

A old friend of mine stopped by the other day who works on most anything that has a small engine on it. I was showing him my shop and 600 series tractors and he said he has an Onan engine for sale. I asked him if it was a BF, BM, CCKA, or possibly a P series. He had no idea but he swore it ran when he removed it from the CASE tractor. I asked him if he still had the tractor and the answer was YES! Big rear tires or small, Small, so you know it's a 200 series. The tractor is junk he tells me, but wants $200 for the engine. One mans junk is another mans treasure.
Now I do not need another project and have a 444 already that needs some TLC. I told him to let me know what the ID plate on the Onan reads. I know my wife certainly does not want another tractor just setting around, but I'm in the process of putting up a makeshift tractor "junk" shed back in a wooded area of my property to clean up a small junk yard that she already wants cleaned up. I think the tractor will fit in there with no problem. Who knows down the road I maybe looking for another project.
I'll be going by his place next week and stop in to access the situation.

Keep the Peace
Harry

Harry, the "doctor" says take another Case and call me in the morning, it's probably not a severe case.
As long as you don't end up living in the shed, it will be ok.

My friend called me today saying the Onan is a BM43 and he again claimed it was running, which I believe but how well is yet to be seen. He claims he is going to give me a smoking deal, so maybe he is thinking less than the $200 that he originally mentioned. The tractor is still there and has a snow caster, but no deck. I'm going his way this weekend so I get a closer look and see what's up with the smoking deal.

I stopped by my friends house yesterday to look at tractor. It turns out to be a 226 with a Onan BM48. No deck but it does have a snowblower on it than is a non Case Ingersoll.
I had a older Honda Harmony self propelled mulching mover with a good engine but the deck has some cancer and cable for the travel engage is toast. I took that with me and we traded even. He is going to deliver it next week. I took a few pics to share with everyone.

I trailered the 226 home yesterday and started to get a closer look at what it is. I'll probably sell the non Case Ingersoll snow blower and park it into a tractor shed which I'm slowly working on this summer. This is a winter project which won't be this coming winter. I already have scheduled a 444 project which is long over due.
