Type of beet ?

Post by propane1 »

Any body know what type of beet this is. ? Neighbour gave me a few of these. Jumpins the size of them. Tasted good. Not quite as good thou as the normal beet, dark Detroit, or something like that. Had to use big big pot to cook it. Didn’t wanna cut it. Wanted to cook same as other beets.

Amazing how many varieties are there, we never planted beets. Now I think I'd like to try some of these varieties. There is a really good sour soup we make from the beets greens. Mmmmm...

Sugar beets tend to be whitish in color.

Not crazy about plain cooked beets, but will eat them. Now on the other hand, Moms pickled beets
