Social Media Problems

Post by RoamingGnome »

Or is it "Anti-Social Media" ? :cuss:

Thought I would share my tale of woe in the hopes it might save one of you some headaches.

This morning I was going through my FB and Instagram accounts and saw an important message from Meta (or what looked like Meta) informing me I had violated there community standards and my account was going to be deactivated in 24 - 48 hours,

.
None of it made any sense and I quickly Followed the link for the appeal process so I could fix this ASAP - of course it takes you to a realistic but fake page where you enter your username and password so you can see what the complaints are - :pullhair: it's a scam phishing message to get your login info for your account... :114: Please, :( Don't get fooled like me... :((

I caught on almost immediately (but still too late :headbash: ) when the field for the 2 factor confirmation # accepted any old characters

So, I've spent the day changing passwords :writing: on not just my Meta accounts but other passwords that haven't been changed in a long time.

Watch yourselves out there, scammers are everywhere and it's so easy to get fooled, especially if you are already having a bad day full of other distractions... :106: :124:

This morning a notice of a bill coming due in 5 days was in my email. The site logo looked legit and there was a "Pay" button. I do not use services of that company. It was a hissing scam.
