Re: How are you preheating?
My 4016 vanguard normally starts just fine in the winter.
Perhaps the newer vanguards are tuned more for emissions causing starting issues?
My understanding is that it's primarily the "big block" power steering equipped Vanguards with cold starting issues. Something about the larger pump and ...

Re: How are you preheating?
Depending on the temperature the heating pad gets to I could see value in attaching it to the metal divider between the engine and plastic hydraulic tank on the 3XXX/4XXX tractors. I've measured hydraulic oil temps over 200F and engine oil temps over 300F so the tanks are pretty heat resilient. My ...

Re: Best mod you have done
I’ve done so many mods it’s hard to say for sure. Everytime I crank up the 646 with the Honda OHV 20 hp engine and it start immediately, I think the repower is the #1. :peace: Harry
I was a really big fan of the GX670 I had in my 4020, the Vanguard V-Twins are so so so much worse ...

Re: Best mod you have done
Calling it a "mod" is a stretch, but adding the mini-skid Quick Attach plate to my loader was a game changer!

Re: leaking
Definitely hard to tell, but the easy thing is usually to look at the highest up item that appears wet. In this case it looks like it might be your brake drum shaft seal leaking. Not a super fun repair so I'd recommend cleaning things up to get a better look at the leaks like @DavidBarkey suggested.

Re: TCV relief setting
Thanks for going into the extra detail
Did the 4 digit loaders also use the same drive motor?
The loaders use a different drive motor than the GTs. Unfortunately I don't have a great way to get displacement figures for the motors at this time. :(
If you know anybody that has that ...

Re: TCV relief setting
Did the 3100/4100 series use a different drive motor? I know they used a larger pump (12gpm?)
No, they still use the C33234 drive motor the "normal" tractors use, so theoretically they have a higher top speed. However the owner's manuals call out the AH tractors as having a SLOWER top speed ...

Re: TCV relief setting
Does anyone know if the later 4 digit tractors with the backhoe transaxle had the standard 2100PSI relief or if they were increased to 2400PSI like the loaders.
I should have specified 3000/4000 series.
With a small sample size of two, I measured 1800psi on the travel circuit relief for ...
