Spring tractor conversion thread

Figured I'd kick off a spring tractor conversion thread...

Last weekend I started my winter to spring tractor conversion. I took Friday afternoon off with the goal of at least removing the cab. The wife took the little kids shopping and I was able to get the cab removed. Since the weather looked decent for the past week and I had the time, I decided to remove the Berco snowblower, wheel weights, chains and the suitcase weights. Since I still had free time (amazing thing when you have a 3 year old and a 10 month old...) I got out my RM48 deck, got it greased, blades sharpened and mounted to my tractor. I ran out of time while connecting the leveling rod and leveling the deck. That leveling rod is always such a PITA on my deck.

I'm usually behind. I put my blower on December 31 this year... I usually target November.

Aside from Monday and Tuesday this week, the weather has been 40 to 70F here for a few weeks. I decided to start a little early. In the 90's when I was a kid we had the April fools blizzard (2-3' of snow). That's the only time I can remember getting snow this time of year. i figured with the warm weather, I was good to go for the year.

I have 4 tractors to put into summer duty. Ford, John Deere and two Cases. I did a wee little bit awhile ago on switching. Then it snowed on me. So I’ll try again next week and see what happens. :D

I dropped the caster a few weeks ago so I could haul wood from the woods. The weather has been so poor that the mower has only been a distant thought. Hard to believe I mowed on 4/17 last year, everything is white here again this morning and will be again Monday they say. :barf: :106:

It's good you found time to get it done. :69:

In my neck of the woods I never mow until May. Like they saw April showers bring May flowers. I'm figuring on a lot rain on top of the water I already have around here. Needless to say I live in a swamp. :pullhair:

My only comment is that I am swamp brothers with @Harry and will win the contest of being late for Spring!

Wow Matt! I just saw this thread after taking the blade and chains off my 444 this morning. Was leaking gas like crazy from the carb bowl. Cut a new gasket and cleaned it all up, took the kids for a little ride and seems to be fine now. Leaving the wheel weights on until I roll the lawn, then they come off and the mower deck goes on. Looking forward to mowing and less vibration/noise with new engine mounts!

Took the chains off the Case 446, then it snowed, took the rear weight off the Case 446 Saturday. Now it’s snowing. Snow fall warning. :giggle: :giggle: I think I’m gettin told to leave the tractors alone. :giggle:
So I’ll see how it works or doesn't work, with just ag tires and wheel weights, tomorrow morning so the :wife: can get out. :giggle:
