What I'm not getting is why for the front, that machine isn't 4x4.

This would be good for @Propane57 ! :D

NOT good if you are going to be sideways on a hill !!! He just put a bunch of ice skating blades on his tractor. :40: I saw a D-8 Cat climb a frozen and snow covered hill, as he got near the top he turned and slid sideways most of the way back down the hill :O Need some shark teeth cut in them, but them they will bend and wear quicker. My gravel road when the snow is packed to ice would be undrivable unless I could stay on the crown, I have measured it at 14-18" from the center to the shoulder :O

You're completely right @Gordy !

The chains I got on my latest 444 from Al are interesting in the sense that the regular chain links have open links pieces welded that look like claws pointing outwards. I'll take a picture and post when I get a chance.

Ok seen the video now. Quite a set of chains. Sorta like the tracks they use to but on the old Ferguson and Ford tractors many years ago. Those chains not be so good in any direction on ice, would be my guess. No weight to push down on them. Neat build thou.
