When does it end?

My newly in service for me 4020PS appears to have a bad ignition control module. I have been through this tractor top to bottom. I will be giving up my years in use 4018PS. I wanted the 4020PS to be fully ready. I have many hundreds in new hoses and rubber and this and that. Now, I get spark on only one side. In the past, it has always been the ignition module. I did the voltage test and it failed. Then I find out that this part is on international backorder. I was able to find one. But, this is going to stink for us Onan guys.
Then I have a 4018PS that is so close to being all fixed so I can list it for sale. But, it has had an oil leak. I was pretty sure I knew where it was leaking. I just did not want to be right. I was right. I have a leaking pan gasket. And the part that really put sand in my butt crack is I have had the pan of that engine off when I had the cylinders honed and replaced the rings. So, it is my fault or I need to dead flat the mating surfaces.
Once I get either one done I can finally have a machine with a snow caster on it. As of now, snow duty is a loader.

Dude that sucks . I have not been able to do much in the shop last few days dealing with this freaking cold and the problems it has caused with our Roosters . Been more of an amateur Vet than a small engine mechanic of late . Good thing I am still on disability and it is just me and my stuff I am trying to get ready for spring that is sidelined .

Oh well thats part of having livestock

. I hope I don't need a module any time to soon for Frankie . Hope you get it sorted out with out to much greaf.

Just when you think you're done another thing fails. At least you did find a replacement.
I would think it's quite unusual for the bottom of the engine to not be flat, or the pan. I'm not familiar with the 4018PS, but if you had access to any of the bolts, however hard it may be, why not give it another try and tighten any bolts you can get to.

It is too important that the crankcase be sealed. When the crankcase leaks there are several things that go out of whack. Who knows, maybe I forgot to order the gasket. But, the crankcase pulses must be from a sealed crankcase. Mine is not. It does not just drip oil out it is air and oil both. That is normal for a leak at that location.

So you have to pull the engine out, get a new gasket, and check for flatness (which I don't think it's your problem). Could be worse though, a cracked block or pan! Let's hope that's not the Case!

Boomer has plenty of used parts like oil pans. So, that will not be that bad if I need a new-old one.
I saw the exact places it was leaking. So, no worries about anything other than why the gasket failed. I may have reused mine. Who knows when you are in the final stretch and you have to choose between what looks good to waiting for yet another order to come in. I generally will not make that mistake. But, I am human. So, that means I am not perfect.

Yeah, Boomer does have "used" oil pans. It is my understanding he got them from the same place Ray Wilson got his.
Thank You Ray!
