Case tractors and wood. Show us!

Got some logs from a farmer nearby. It's a bit tedious unloading them one by one but it beats doing it by hand.

I only asked for a few logs and he loaded up the trailer!
The plan is to use these to make a little add on shelter for some of the junk and attachments. Wish me luck, because realistically I have no idea where the time for that will come.

Wood always means work. Heat is produced many times by firewood before it is burnt.
Jan 2021, given Ingy a little workout

It's close to a full chord of oak, pushes a little going down the hill, but otherwise pulls it around with ease.
The blade is a UB54, don't use it much, mostly play. That will change a little this year as I sold my plow truck. So Ingy is going to get plow duty this year. Got the caster now though. Don't want to think about snow yet.

Dave, you could have used some pallet forks there right? I have been looking for (and missing) some pallet forks! It was a bit too tedious to move the logs one at a time... until I remembered there was another tractor near by

Well, you won't catch me going downhill with any of my Case tractors! Literally you won't catch me because none of mine have the holding valve!

I had a 226 with holding valve and sold it cheap apparently I needed the space.
I got now both the little and the big blade. Really wanted a blade and chased them a lot. All of a sudden now I have the loader and I'm asking myself what's with the blades!?

My 3012 has a pretty easylife, I bought it as a bare tractor so it just pulls a JD 80 cart. This morning's storm brought down a 50 foot boxelder, so I cut it into manageable pieces and hauled it to the burn pile.

Thanks forgot to mention that

Yes 1.75 inch of rain in about 2.5 hours, no runoff plenty of 1/2- 1 inch cracks in the black clay base for the rain to drop in and go deep.
Oh, found something moving in the grass near the house. A snapper, not quite ready for bouya base

Gordy, you're getting good use out of your 3012! I like the green weights up front!
I'm very intrigued by the big shovels! What's their story?

Eugen, those are grain scoops. My hands have a permanent shape from using those as a child laborer. I didn't know any thing was suppose to be anything wrong with that. In the first grade I took down a 6th grader during recess. The teacher gave me the privilege of staying inside the couple of days.

Can't afford Case weights when they rarely show up, but those 3 green ones (with running deer) were $15us each at a auction

And I get to tell people that JD is great at making dead weight, when they give me crap for having them on the Case or Ingy
The scoop shovels are tailgate extensions to get more dirt in the cart

The tires on the cart are tubed, and cracked like ice in a snow cone so of course I need to load test them from time to time

so I'm not the only one that handled a big shovel in his youth. It does mark you that's for sure. I did a stint in a coal mine for one year, as part of my military service, and we had these huge shovels named "heart of Stalin" on account of coal being lighter than dirt, so you could shovel more at at time. I do want something like this, because for instance wood chips are light, so normal shovels are just too little.

I hear you
@Gordy , and I'd use those in a pinch. It's just weights so who cares what color. Plus you can paint them. I'll start looking for one of those scoop shovels, I like them.
The real load test is this: if they burst you get new tires!

you better have replacements on hand!

Eugen, I use them scoop shovels like that for snow shovels. You get a good shovel full of snow with them. Other than slush/slop, too heavy, I am not man enough.

Unless the wood chips are in the cart where I can get the scoop shovel down to the steel bottom of the cart, I prefer a good 14 tine silage fork. Especially with the bigger chips from the power line clearing crews. The fork penetrates the chip pile much easier than the blunt edge of the shovel.

I did the math and I believe the log is in the neighborhood of 1200lbs. I made the roof out of an old cb34 cab I had. I took the roof and then used emt to build it. It's just my sun shade/ overhead light holder. One day I'll bend up a nice tube cage for it.

@Jancoe that is impressive! I don't know if I have the guts to lift that much on my 644! Did you build some sort of quick attach mechanism or did the 6018 come with it?
P.S. I bet your boy drives it by now. Look at that happy face!

got a couple of loads hauled out of the woods today. Got most of what I cut last weekend. Frost was coming out this afternoon so time to quit before I tear up the lane or get stuck. Glad I left the chains on.

Fun,

I was doing a wheelie coming up the hill.
It's a load when it's full, bed is 4.25' x 8'. The axle is too far forward so if you put too much on the rear you loose your tongue weight. Can't complain to much it was free.
My brother was doing some recovery work for the county, it had came unhooked from a guy's car and ended up out in the woods. When he got it back up on the road the guy said he never wanted to see the thing again. It's a little tweaked but good enough behind a tractor.

Ya, I dropped the caster, hope I don't need to put it back on.
With the chains on it was really hooking up coming up the hill. I didn't have crazy tongue weight, she was really pulling, like a tractor pull. It's amazing what these little beasts can pull.

It's what it's all about. An old tractor pulling a trailer full of wood and it'll do that 20 years from now. We're lucky to still have them!

Pack that machine up and come to PEI Eugen. I’ve got 16 cords of eight foot logs I need you to move to the saw bench. All the hot dogs you can eat. Fried, boiled or BBQ’ed, maybe with condiments. And all the water you want. How’s that sound ????
Handy attachment, for sure.

There was a pair of real forklift forks for 200 but not very close to me. Then I'd have to fab some way to attach them. Dave built himself a nice pair with a neat way to attach. I had to accept I don't have the time to do any of that rn.

Forks do make the tractor so much more versatile don't they. They are so handy they stay on one of my tractors full time. Now that I have them I don't know how I could go without. You find so much use with them.
