Colt Case Ingersoll Garden Tractors

The last month has been cleaning non CCI product out of the shop. The first item was a White lawn tractor that was missing 3 transaxle cross member bolts. The transaxle would twist forward causing the belt to jump off. Also in the line up is a neighbors rototiller with a plugged carburetor. Next a Craftsman lt1500 with a broken spindle and three tires that wouldn't hold air. It's repaired and going to my nephew. what's left it's a 682 international Cub. It has a twin cylinder Kohler which is locked up. It is been setting outside for at least 10 years. I think it'll roll to the back of the shed for later assessment. By the end of next week I hope to be working on the Case 646LBH.

Sure feels good to clean out the garage especially that much space Good luck with the backhoe. I've seen a few 4000 series tractors for sale recently with the backhoe transaxle.

Spike, I have another CCK engine that I pulled from my 646 if you need for your hoe project.

Thank Harry. I will keep that in mind. The motor in the 646L is making a lot of rod noise and has been parked until I have time to look at it. The current plan is to leave it set until the LBH is finished. I have been talking to Mike at Enginebore about @DavidBarkey idea of line boring the rear axil housing or the LBH and replacing the axil bushings with automotive thrust bearings. The previous owner had ran the housing with minimal oil and there is about an 1/8 inch obround wear into the housing because the axils wore through the bushings.

OK, NOW, this is project I can get interested in.. I have poked around once or twice to see if there was some kind of thin needle bearing that could be used for the axle shafts. But the stumbling block for me was that running hardened needle bearings on that cast steel casting was going to wear the casting rapidly. and I have not figured out how to sleeve or create an outer "bear race" for the needles to run on..

Patiently waiting fo see what Y'all come up with..
