646 upgrade

Since I had the 646 in the shop for the tcv relief reset, I figured it was time to work on it some more. First was I never liked the angle of the cab, to much slant forward. So I made a transition plate which was added to the front under the windshield. Next I removed the throttle control and drilled out the rivet and replaced it with a bolt and nylock nut. This will hold the throttle where I set it, instead of it backing off. I also removed the right rear wheel and drained the liquid ballast out of the tire. Installed a tube and reassembled with the combine wheel weights like the left side. One last item was since the cab was installed the hood would not stay open. It would hit the cab so I had to use a stick to keep it open when working on the engine. I took an old hinge welded a tab to it to make a latch. Then bolted it to the cab, the pic will give you the idea. I have one more item to take care of and I’ll post that when I complete it. :peace: Harry

This upgrade took awhile to make all the parts tocomplete the job. This larger bucket is to move wood chips to my back nursery area. The original bucket is about 1/4 yard and this larger one is a little shy of a 1/2 yard. Harry

Nothing ventured nothing gained is my theory. It will make a good snow pusher if nothing else. I’ll post my findings when the time comes. Harry

I added some teeth to the bucket. The bucket had a plate added to the cutting edge when I purchased it. So to drill the holes to attach the teeth, I had to drill through the plate and the original bucket material. The holes closest to the edge were just through the plate added. The back holes had to go through both plates. I found out the original bucket was very hard, near impossible to drill through, even after repeatedly sharpening the drill bits. So I figured my plasma would blow through no problem. It didn’t because my plasma is only rated up to 1/2” thickness. So unto plan C, which was to get out the hot wrench. It didn’t the job but I would have to preheat tge bucket under where I wanted to put a hole to get the torch to punch through. A lot of frustration but it didn’t get tge job done.

Today I used the 646 to move some moldy grass clippings that had been totally saturated with moisture from all the rain we had gotten recently. Moved it to a back area where I’m building a nursery for evergreen trees. Then till the grass into the soil. The tiller didn’t exactly mix the grass into the dirt very well, it’s going to take some decomposing and more tilling to get it mixed in well. It’s a project as most things are to get it ready to plant.
