I needed some dirt to make a nursery for the evergreens I propagated. So far I moved about four yards. Dig it out, move it with bucket and dump it in the area where the nursery will be. It’s only abot 50 feet from where I’m removing the dirt. :peace: Harry

Looks like fun Harry. I'm amazed the Kohler 14Hp can run the loader/backhoe.

The K321 was rebuilt and it is amazing how little rpm it uses to run the hoe. Now the loader is another story. I have to rev it up a bit and with a little finesse fill the bucket. I think the bucket tooth bar I was going to build would help also. This little compact tractor amazes me. :peace: Harry

@Harry I think your right, a tooth bar would help. It made a big difference in digging ability on my Case 830.

@Harry how does the D100 do with the big bucket on the end? I've really only used a "trencher" narrow bucket on my Woods 7500 with my 6018 and it definitely throws the tractor around some. Granted, I've pretty much only used it for tearing out stumps/roots... Maybe just digging holes would be a different story.

Looks like fun!

The hoe bucket digs effortlessly. I have a wider one that I used a few years ago. It dug the same as the smaller one but when I would lift a full bucket the front tires would lift off the ground. I did find if I filled the front bucket with dirt it would help keep the front tires on the ground. The swing on the hoe is very sensitive and has to be used carefully. :peace: Harry

I remember when they first were introduced on the 600 series tractors. The district manager brought one by to demo at a dealership my dad and I worked at. The owner went to swing the hoe and just about hit Dad in the side of the head. The swing even at idle was very touchy, a flow restrictor helped a lot.

Great idea on a flow restrictor Bob. I’ll put that on tge to do list.

After two days living a little boys dream operating the 644 lbh, what I started is done. Dug a hole 20’ X 30’ X 6’ and moved all the fill to an area about 50’ away. A lot of seat time for sure guys. I got very acquainted with the operation of the hoe to the point my hands just knew which lever to use to dig the hole.

That's quite the hole Harry. Can you use the hole for draining your yard in the spring?

That’s the idea Matt. I could use the dirt in other areas so next summer the hole will get larger. 😎 Harry
