Want to buy a 600 series backhoe transaxle

The only rear transaxle I have for my 646 backhoe is extremely worn. The axle bushings were wore through and into the housing stems about a quarter of an inch. That means that any bushings put in will need to be filled in with a lock tight or metal filler compound and then bored out again. Also the for mounting holes on the back of the transaxle are rustef and stripped. That means they need to be bore out and retap to a larger diameter. Retapping is not a problem. I have more of a concern about the wear on the axle housing stems themselves.

I am currently traveling around West Virginia Virginia and Pennsylvania and hoping that I might be able to find a rear axle down housing down here. If anybody has any suggestions let me know. Thanks

As I have not seen in person a webbed rear axle . I will ask you this , is there enough meat there to bore out and install a roller bearing like that is used on a rear axle of a rear wheel drive car or truck ???

@DavidBarkey your idea is worth considering. Setting up boring alignment would possibly be challenging.

1" crs bar set screw locked into the carrier bearing sockets with bushings . Then make a cutter that will follow the bar like an oversized valve seat pocket cutter to get with in a couple thou . Then finish with hone to achieve desired press fit. just thinking outloud
