Colt Case Ingersoll Garden Tractors

My good friend neighbor passed a few years ago and lef me a few things. One was a trailer spray rig. He did a nice job in execution but a few things needed some a little tlc. First I had to clean the tank and replaced all the hoses. He had it wired to operate off a 12 volt battery on the trailer. I rewired it to run off the GT battery on the tractor with a switch on a spring clamp. I’m thinking of eliminating the trailer and connect it to the sleeve hitch. That way it’s part of the tractor and it will take less area to tun it on the swing. I believe some members have attached wood boxes to the back of their GT’s. Harry

Looks handy. Depending on what you're spraying, aluminum might not be the best choice of tank material. Probably fine for most things, but worth thinking about, and keeping it cleaned out between uses. Some of the toxins sure eat up brass fittings on my pump sprayers.

30 gallons is right around 250# Add some for the tank, and other bits, and it's not a trivial load. What is the sleeve hitch rated for?

Not sure about the hitch, but most of the weight when full seems to be on the axle. Sprayed some herbicide to knock out some weeds in my yard. Seems to spray very well with about a six foot span. Harry

How are you turning the pump on and off? You could add a pluggable connector to the battery. What are you using for weed control?

Switch on end of spring clip to turn on and off. Trichlorpyr for weed control. Creeping Charlie is hard to eliminate so I’m hoping this works. Harry

The whole spray rig was free, so the aluminum tank was part of it. The sleeve hitch I’m not sure how much weight it’s rated for. On the 446 before I added wheel weights I had a solid block of steel that weighed 228 lbs. which it lifted no problem. The power of hydraulics never ceases to amaze me. Harry
