Colt Case Ingersoll Garden Tractors

My son’s buddy bought this 1993 Ford F350, four door, 4x4, dually truck in Kelowna, BC. With a Bigfoot camper on the back of it. It has the conversion engine in the truck, a Cummins 5.9 diesel. Soooo, my son and the buddy who bought the truck, flew to Kelowna to pick up this truck and drive it back across Canada to PEI. Quite a trip for them.

Any guesses as to how much the fuel cost will be to do that ?

My guess is that the fuel for that trip will be about $3500.

My guess would be around $2500 Cdn It will be interesting to see what route they choose and how much fuel prices vary - We've driven Ontario to BC and back a few times when I was working out west for a few years, (always in little SUV's though... )

Going an all Canadian route from Kelowna to PEI should be a little under 6000 km (3700 Miles) -

We have a '90 F350 with the 7.3 IDI and a camper - Always wanted to spend a summer and go coast to coast... but of course it hasn't left the backyard in many years - another one of those projects that has been waiting for me to work on once I retire properly...

So son and his buddy are spending the night in a rest stop in Quebec not to far from the NB border. So about an 8 hour trip to make it home today on Monday 27/24. So far only had one hiccup. Universal joint went out, as they just got into Ontario. Lucky they were close to a Canadian tire. Son took out the driveshaft and the Canadian tire staff put, I think, two joints in. Son put the shaft back in, and away they went. Down time only 2.5 hours. I believe I was wrong in saying it was a four door truck. I think it’s an extra cab. I must of miss understood when I was told about the truck. Any way, be good to have them home.

Wow that is quite the adventure . It will be interesting to find out how much time and fuel ect. it cost them over the price of the truck .

Update. They made it home safe and sound yesterday. So the average fuel mileage was around the 13.5 miles to the gallon.
He figures around $1500.00 in fuel for the trip. But truck was full before they started. And I doubt they filled it when they got home.

So they had two u joints replaced at the same time.

And had brake trouble not to far into the journey. One of the caliper sliders fell out and the caliper was falling out. Luckily there was three spare sliders in the truck. So they fixed that up and on they went.

Other minor problem was after the drive shaft was fixed, the truck would not turn over to start. It has those on/off safety switches on it. And one had a bad connection.

It is a manual transmission. 5 speed I believe. Has air bag suspension front and back. And automatic leveling system. Who ever had the truck removed the front seats or seat and replaced it with air ride seats. She’s and rough ride on the bumpy roads son said. Glad it had air ride seats.

Sounds like it was quite the adventure . Not too costly considering the distance and the size of truck. Too bad they did not have the extra time to make the trip back a holiday road trip . No doubt many more adventures yet to come in that truck.

That one heck of a shake down drive for a new to him old vehicle! Sounds like all in all it’s a pretty nice truck!
