I am in the need of a new roll pin steering shaft for my rebuild 1987 444 GT. I will be using a late type steering wheel off a 4 digit should I stay with the C23626 23 7/8 inch shaft or move to C33940 25 3/8 length shaft? I guess the question mainly is why the length change?

Anyone help with dimensions of C29877 adjustment screw/pin for adjusting the chain?
This part is totally NLA. Trying to at least recreate it so others can define from this info. Currently into developing a method to convert early J/K/L snow casters to allow adjustment of the chain. I will draw up and publish here any update.. Want to help?
Here's what I know so far ...it's called a spade bolt! Mainly provided with a round hole not square and comes in many sizes. Not found any supplier that has that style in stock but many that have a round hole version. So what is the length< what is the thread diameter, anything that you have will be new so please share.

My guess is 3/8-24, total length 2-3/4, threaded length 1.5", spade length 3/4. Let's see how far off I'll be.

Eugen, sir, you are a gem! You are very close to what I was thinking too... Not sure what will come of the info yet but at least I think/know I can source a round hole version now! For me that's more than enough as creating a square hole version is easy and still trying to determine if necessary..

I don't know offhand the reason they lengthened it. My guess is that the hub of the newer style steering wheel is taller/deeper than the old hub.
But either way, if it were me, I would order the longer one because it's always easy to cut off extra you don't need but it's trickier to stretch one that isn't quite long enough.

Thanks Bob, your suggestion that it has to do with the new type steering wheel was exactly why I asked the question. I need to order a new shaft, in taking apart the old shaft my son completely destroyed my old steering wheel and managed to bend an almost new steering shaft too!
