Colt Case Ingersoll Garden Tractors

My poor old trailer floor is so rotten I’m scared to walk on it. The problem is compounded by the fact that I’m fairly cheap and can’t quite swallow paying todays lumber prices for a trailer that doesn’t get used much. So I decided to dig around my empire of dirt and see if I could scrounge up enough wood to do a quick and dirty “ field expedient “ repair.

The 648 makes a great tow motor to bring thing into and out of the shop. Well now it’s all cobbled together. Is it the right way to do it? Nope. In fact it’s fairly embarrassing to look at! But we’ll be able to use it for what we need here locally for awhile longer. Thankfully we’re not hauling eggs or small children in it so it should work until I can’t stand it anymore and go buy some lumber, plus it has the added benefit that nobody will look at it and say, “What a great trailer”, and drive away with it!

It's better like that than stepping through and getting injured. You'll need your trailer functional for you never know what happens at that auction.

I’m thinking the same thing! Fingers crossed!

In my area I see once in a while on C/L someone giving away an old deck or pool deck which you have to dismantle. I did find one that was already apart and I just had to load up and take, being careful of all the nails which were still in the boards. I've used them of many projects some were still good 2X12, 2X10 and 2X8.

Well done! Like Harry says, sometimes free lumber can be found. Picked up 38 2x4s in 8-9 ft lengths on side of road, some not great but useable still. I''ve also kept all the old cedar decking for my new firewood shed for the floor and sides. Love salvaging lumber!

Agree the price of lumber is quite high, even though it's dropped from where it was.

That’s a good idea. I haven’t run across a deal on lumber in quite awhile. The last time was for this gazebo. It was on a boat dock at a lake. The people just wanted it gone. So we disassembled it and brought it here and rebuild it. That was several years ago. I’m going to have to start paying attention again!
