@Propane57 It's the
flag on the back that makes it work better .
It is Canadian snow after all .

@Propane57 In all seriousness . I think the deflector JD uses help control the snow flow into the chute instead of spraying out front and the taller narrower chute adds velocity . Some people we know have done these changes to the Case caster with great success.

Well that’s an idea with the deflector Dave. And reasonable easy to rig up some thing and try it. It would keep the paddles on the auger fuller which is what it seems to need to throw better.DavidBarkey wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 8:00 pm @Propane57 In all seriousness . Thanks Noel! Was trying to understand why the JD would throw better, but I see it's a K321 just like the Case. I've seen 120 and 110 for sale around here but never a 140. Like you guys say, there must be something about the snow caster design on the JD. The front deflector doesn't seem hard to add.Propane57 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 16, 2022 5:53 pm 14 hp k321, 1970 JD 140H3 770 lbs, 275 lbs thrower, hydrostatic , one range, 50 lb wheel weightS, about a 100 lbs hanging on the back, Canadian flag on the back, hydraulic thrower lift, hydraulic top chute defector, manual chute rotation, 46” mower deck. 12x12x26 gator rear tires, 16x6.5x8 front tires. Propane, how much of a gap is there between your auger and the housing? I'm guessing you have an early model and the chain adjustment is leaving a large gap which is causing the poor performance.

Just had it all apart a month or so ago, and both end adjusters are adjusted so the auger is as close as it can go. Never measured gap.
