David your gardens always look amazing.

This spring I planted four forsythia bushes and expanded the bed down the side of the house and around back to the deck. The girls and I planted sunflowers at about 15 locations last week and all locations are growing. Hoping to get some mulch down this week.

Is there much of a market for pink pitch forks down your way ? looks like there growing well .How much water do they need ? It is great to see the kids getting involved .

The pink forks will come out in the next week or so. I needed to mark the locations for watering and to help keep the kids from stepping on the plants.

We have been watering the sunflowers daily. The garden is dusty dry due to the moderate drought conditions here for the past two months.

Sunflowers are growing good. Most are 15-30" high. We were a bit late planting. The neighbors sunflowers are 4-5' already. The front middle and front left were eaten by some animal. Since we still had a few plants at most locations, we transplanted two sunflowers. Seemed to go ok. Kids are good helpers.

The sunflowers are growing well. We skipped planting a garden this year, just too much work on the house renovations. I have, however, planted about an acre of alfalfa. Most work done by the neighbour with his big tractor. The idea is to establish this acre for the next few years with alfalfa as forage for the animals we'll hopefully grow there once we move in. I've had quite a lot of trouble with the fruit trees I've planted, they needed some spraying as I've seen them attacked by something or other fungus. And my irrigation system kinda sucks, the pump keeps on getting stuck. On the plus side, we've had decent rain fall this year so far. The downside of that is that the grass and is thick and the thistle is thick and at times 7 feet tall. Never seen such a thing in my life. Was quite a challenge to clean the area around the 40 or so fruit trees that are planted.
