David, is the wedge on the hood original or a David classic custom?

All original for this model . Restoring as close to original as I can get . Even the hub caps were original to this one .

David I’m not familiar with AC GT’s. What is the purpose if the wedge on the hood? Is there a hole in the hood that is covers?

Hey Dave, nice machine. I like AC's, I have a '63 Simplicity 725 which is similar (and a Sovereign 3416H, and a Wonder Boy). I take it yours is a Shuttle Drive. Tell me how you like the SD. Did your dad have his birthday?
PS. When will you be done, I need your help.

I do not know what Shuttle drive is . This has a 7 position verifiable belt drive with a 3 speed trans-axle for a total 21 speeds forward and 7 in reverse. I have not driven it since all drive being rebuilt , so don't know yet .
Hopefully soon , Dads 80th was last September . What do you need help with ?

We had a bigger Allis tractor at home when I was a kid. Something like these.
The wedge on those was for the steering column and I think there might have been gauges in there too. One of the other guys might know for sure but I think the GT version was just for looks so it matched the bigger tractors. I think the GT just had a decal on the wedge face.

The wedge has a "racing stripe" so you can cut faster .

. Practically it covers the battery and fuel cap/gauge from weather and on the back side has the shift pattern decal .
